A DAY IN THE LIFE …

As an M&A Separation Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the successful execution of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) separation projects. Your primary responsibility will be to lead and coordinate the various activities involved in the separation of business units or assets. This position requires a combination of project management skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to collaborate across different functions within the organization.

  • Create separation masterplan in collaboration with the project team and ensuring consistency with the perimeter defined for the transaction (outlining the tasks, timelines, and resource requirements for the separation)

  • Identify and highlight functional interdependencies and their impact on critical path

  • Identify key decisions from both buyer and seller that influence separation tasks

  • Drive day-to-day program management activities and activate/executing functional plans

  • Collaborate closely with senior M&A Advisors to align separation strategies with overall business goals

  • Map separation process stakeholders and ensure compliance to PM rules (NDA, others)

  • Establish and implement clear governance, define roles, responsibilities, and escalation paths.

  • Prepare decisions for different governance levels

  • Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business objectives

  • Prepare, document, and facilitate weekly separation meetings cycle

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (incl. finance, legal, IT, HR, and others) to facilitate alignment

  • Identify potential risks and ensure the development of mitigation strategies and contingency plans by respective functions

  • Work with finance teams to develop, track, and manage the separation project budget

  • Identify requirements and advise on building a communication plan

  • Oversee the separation of IT systems, infrastructure, and other technology-related assets

  • Set-up and drive contract separation process across key contracts

  • Support identification and planning of key steps for employee transfers and timelines

ARE YOU A FIT?

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, project management, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP) is a plus

  • 5+ years of proven experience in consulting, project management, specifically in M&A separation projects

  • Strong understanding of business operations, finance, legal, and technology

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
