Lyft Data Curation Associate (GIS & Mapping) in Mexico City, Mexico

Data Curation Operations is a team which supports all ongoing curation projects for Mapping and other teams at Lyft. Our mission is to improve customer experience in Lyft products by providing high-quality, comprehensive, and efficient data curation operations.

As a Data Curation Associate at Lyft, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and usability of Map Data. You will work closely with various teams to curate and maintain data sets that are essential for our operations and decision-making processes. We are looking for someone who has good analytical skills and is able to work with a large amount of information. Responsibilities:

  • Curate data sets, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and completeness.

  • Document data and tooling issues meticulously for analysis. Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.

  • Accountability: Perform assigned tasks according to allocation, taking responsibility for assigned workload, expectations and timelines; understand and apply the goals, purposes and policies of the assigned projects.

  • Time management: Take responsibility for personal working time, effectively distributing and allocating work tasks and responsibilities throughout the day according to schedule guidelines.

  • Communication: Clearly communicate with colleagues while exchanging ideas, thoughts, opinions, knowledge, and data; demonstrate a willingness to help; share information with clarity, empathy, and understanding.

  • Curation tooling: Be proficient with the tools needed for performing duties and use them according to tooling guidelines and best practices (Google services, Self Service, Confluence, Jira, etc.). Learn quickly how to use internal mapping tools. Review Open Street Map (OSM) edits to ensure they are made in accordance with OSM and internal policies.

  • Maintain a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and integrity.

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree or equivalent. Background in mapping, cartography, GIS and any related fields would be an advantage.

  • Strong computer skills: You must feel comfortable learning new processes, systems & tools, including labeling tools (data labeling, image labeling) and Google Drive products

  • Ability and readiness to deal with monotonous work without losing concentration

  • General understanding of traffic regulations and mapping fundamentals

  • Presence of basic logic, ability to handle ambiguity and provide independent reasoning and conclusions.

  • Strong personal communication skills. Good at asking questions, defending your point of view, and formulating thoughts. Team player.

  • Ability to work in a distributed team remotely.

  • Proficiency in working with G-Suite products and services.

  • Customer obsessed: You are passionate about delivering great customer experiences with a strong track record to back that up. You have analytical and problem-solving skills to proactively address and prevent issues.

  • Self-directed and organized: You’re comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to quickly adjust to changes in product direction and requirements. You know when to ask for support and you approach your work with a seize-the-day attitude.

  • Strong and proactive communicator: You excel in verbal and written communication (English). You can adapt your communication style to work with team members from all corners of the organization, and you proactively share updates on processes you own. You are receptive to feedback and direction in order to successfully carry out tasks and lead projects to completion.

  • Strong computer skills: You feel comfortable learning new processes, systems & tools, including labeling tools (data labeling, image labeling) and Google Workspace products.

  • Nice to have

  • Experience working with 3rd-party vendors will be an advantage

  • Experience using Open Street Map.

  • Experience in the following or related fields: data entry, data labeling, quality control, processing and triaging feedback

  • Experience with Jira, Confluence

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule if an established Lyft Location is available to the Mexico City region — Hybrid Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid
