Inventory Programs Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to theManager, Inventory Programs,the Manager of InventoryControlwill be responsible for managing inventory program related activities. Youwill lead, implement and maintain inventory management programs, procedures, and controls. This individual will also provide technical and organizational leadership and training on strategic materials positioning targets per ERP-SAP set-ups / operation / functionalities and establish the group as providing value-added services to the company. This candidate must have the ability to manage multiple projects & tasks concurrently. This position will also have responsibilities for executinginventory control measures to ensure the company minimizes stock holding and maximizes stock system and paperwork accuracy. The role carries responsibility for working with Business Ops Planning, Commodity/Supplier Management, Purchasing, Production Planning, Logistics, Finance, Product Management and IT and others.

The job role may include other reasonable duties/tasks from time to time.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manage, maintain and recommend the company’s material and stocked inventory including stock profiles and stock locations

  2. Minimize overstocks and removal of obsolete / redundant raw materials to maximize availability of working capital

  3. Ensure all materials transactions in SAP are managed appropriately according to company procedure.

  4. Provide routine management information on inventory performance

  5. Monitor and evaluate consumables usage & costs

  6. Monitor & evaluate material utilization and scrap

  7. Implement improvement processes and systems to reduce inventory,minimise costs and maximize working capital

  8. Write and maintain accurate written procedures for inventorycontrol processes and functions.

  9. Ensure integrity and accuracy of the stock management system

  10. Manage control measures to ensure mistakes, inaccuracies and discrepancies are highlighted, addressed and resolved.

  11. Conducts quality control on Inventory Management data, produces weekly analytical inventory reports and supplies the management and respective teams with accurate reports.

  12. Follows up closely with the respective Inventory managers (various Warehouse teams) by ensuring a proper implementation of the policies and procedures are adhered to with elements of control losses and inventory reporting accuracies.

  13. Provides technical support to his/her local peers and communicates with the respective areas of Operations.

  14. Communicate openly with the IT department to ensure areas of concern are limited within the technical areas of challenges.

  15. Supports teams on site whenever there are technical problems.

  16. Management of inventory at multiple external locations in line with the requirements of the operation

  17. The review and revision of procedures and SOP’s to ensure that inventory control actions are adhered to.

  18. Develop and train staff in respective departments/locations to enable continuity throughout

  19. To produce integrity results on a daily basis identifying current and potential issues.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  1. Works in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  2. Also works in standard office environment and uses general office equipment (telephone, PC, copier, fax machine, etc.).

  3. Travel required: 5%

SKILLS:

  1. Proficient use of an automated inventory management system (preferably Logility) with hands on experience of purchasing, inventory control, managing inventory turn, service level expectations, and goal setting.

  2. Ideally possessing a relevant professional qualification and/or suitable background experience in inventory management / Purchasing/ Planning

  3. Have a detailed understanding of MRP and inventory control / management systems and ERP.

  4. Proven track record as a experienced leader/manager of large planning organizations.

  5. Experience of lean manufacture, kanban and kaizen continuous improvement or similar production tools within a low volume, high mix, high quality manufacturing facility would be an advantage.

  6. Knowledge of international commerce, customs regulations, Incoterms and international supply chain processes.

  7. Knowledge of custom supply solutions to reduce non-value portion of material movement/positioning.

  8. Ability to turn goals into actionable results.

  9. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  10. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills for a demanding and customer focused working environment.

  11. Possess excellent personal organisation and business administration skills in accordance with modern best practice methods.

  12. Diplomatic. Must possess an awareness and appreciation of different cultures.

  13. Highly pro-active with the ability to work to deadlines. Must be able to multi-task effectively.

  14. Possess the ability to work productively, efficiently & effectively with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail and quality.

  15. Possess the willingness to learn, improve and adapt.

  16. Possess relevant IT skills in basic MS Office applications - outlook, excel & word in particular and a working knowledge or business ERP systems

EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

  1. Minimum 5 years experience in inventory control on an automated system for a large diverse global supply base with multiple distribution centers.

  2. Experience with SAP.

  3. Presentation skills

EDUCATION:

Essential:

Bachelor of Science in Business or Engineering, or equivalent experience and/or education.

APICS CPIM certification or CIRM certification desireable
