Herbruck Poultry Ranch PA - Sanitation Assistant Manager - 3rd Shift in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania

Position Summary:

The Assistant Manger in Sanitation works closely with the Sanitation Manager to ensure that all areas of the facility meet regulatory requirements and uphold the highest standards of cleanliness. This role involves overseeing sanitation staff, implementing sanitation procedures, and working with other departments to promote a clean & safe working environment. Position includes a Monday to Friday schedule with occasional weekend and holiday shifts required. This position includes great benefits, including a competitive wage and annual bonus!

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist the sanitation manager in developing and implementing sanitation policy and procedures.

  • Supervise sanitation staff, including onboarding, training process, performance management and scheduling.

  • Ensure that employees are trained and understand their duties.

  • Track monthly safety training to make sure all employees have completed the required courses in a timely manner.

  • Delegate work to employees, track progress, and provide feedback through dialog, performance/disciplinary reviews as needed.

  • Manage departmental performance measures.

  • Approves employee daily timesheets and PTO requests.

  • Completes and reviews with employees their performance as needed and includes 90 day and annual reviews.

  • Follow all company safety practices and rules and ensure the safe use of equipment. 

  • Ensure operators are following all necessary food safety standards and practices.

  • Provide reports and updates to management.

  • Problem solve and identify issues and implement effective solutions.

  • Work with quality assurance and food safety teams to address any sanitation related concerns.

  • Primarily assigned to a shift but will require flexibility and include weekend and holiday work.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

    Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Bilingual-Spanish a plus.

  • Two-three years’ experience in a similar role.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments to build positive working relationships.

  • Strong understanding of sanitation principals and practices including chemicals & equipment.

  • Willing to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays as assigned.

  • Does not own or maintain routine contact with swine or birds.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to work as a productive team player.

  • Capable of working occasional Saturday’s and maintaining flexible schedule.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to remain standing and/or walking for extended periods of time on concrete and/or uneven floors.

  • Ability to stoop, bend, climb, and lift up to 25 lbs. frequently throughout the day.

  • Lift up to 50 lbs, and team lift of up to 100 lbs.

  • May be assigned to environmental areas of high noise, wet floors, dusty conditions, etc.

  • Work will involve differing temperatures from coolers to constant temp processing floor, wet and slippery floors.

  • Ability to maneuver wet and slippery surfaces, dealing with disposable and removal of discarded egg product.

    Safety:

  • LOTO Authorized per assigned job duties.
