Position Summary The Purchasing Manager has responsibility for the short-term and long-term direction of the Purchasing Department. You will analyze and forecast all aspects of the supply chain, including supply and demand for components, raw, and product. This position will benchmark, competition and gather market intelligence to recommend and lead strategic projects that will lead to delivery, cost and quality improvements. In addition, you will regularly update management on the current state of the supply chain and activities to mitigate production disruption and lead cross functional teams to resolve supply chain issues. Duties Analyze and forecast all aspects of supply chain for components, raw, and product. Lead strategic projects that bring exceptional value to the company through key supplier relationships and cost/benefit financial analysis. Prepare required reports and provide detailed analysis of spend, inventory, and cost savings. Lead continuous improvement efforts relative to systems, processes, and supply chain management. Manage supply chain risk through buying strategies, supplier agreements, 2nd sourcing, or other methods to mitigate risk to the business. Prepare and monitor inventory plan and report out monthly performance. Support fiscal year financial requirements of budget preparation and standard cost roll up. Identify and lead or support 2nd sourcing initiatives. Plan and negotiate contracts with favorable impact on inventory goals, quality, and continuity of supply and corporate cost objectives. Establish improvement objectives for suppliers, analyze their performance, and take the necessary actions to ensure that objectives are met. Manage employee talent and development. Coordinate performance reviews, recruitment/hiring, technical training, corrective actions and employee relations. Oversee quoting, negotiating, and supplier relationship management of the Purchasing team. #LI-BB1 Required Experience Bachelors Degree. Seven (7) years of experience in related field such as Operations, Materials, or Supply Chain Management. OR High School Diploma. Fifteen (15) years of experience in related field such as Operations, Materials, or Supply Chain Management. Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams. Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and working knowledge of ERP software. Preferred Experience Two (2) years of experience in management of direct reports. Technical knowledge of components in the assigned commodities to effectively communicate with and support technical departments at STERIS and the suppliers. New Product Development experience. Experience in a lean manufacturing environment. Experience working in a highly regulated industry. Professional certification (CPM, SPM, CSCP or CPIM). Skills Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines. Strong interpersonal, organizational, influence, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels. Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
