Northern Fab of Menominee LLC TIG Welder in Menominee, Michigan

Northern Fab of Menominee LLC is adding a skilled TIG Welder to the team! Pay for this hourly position is $20 - $24 per hour, based on relevant experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for using a variety of welding equipment, processes, and tools to join metals and produce a finished product and/or part that meets print and quality specifications. This position is appropriate for a TIG Welder with advanced welding knowledge and/or experience.

Essential Functions

-Operate welding and fabricating equipment safely and efficiently to produce parts that meet quality standards and print specifications.

  • Interpret blueprints to produce complex parts requiring multiple piece fit-up.

  • Produce visually appealing welds with consistent pattern as most welds will be exposed in the final product.

  • Achieve efficiency goals while maintaining quality of work.

  • Utilize proper controls (amperage and voltage) and techniques (CTTWD, travel angle, travel speed, etc.) to achieve structurally sound welds with appropriate penetration.

-Weld parts in various positions: flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead, etc.

-Monitor equipment and materials, identify any issues, and notify appropriate personnel if faulty.

-Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, bolt, or grind spare parts as necessary to produce the final product to specifications.

-Operate other accessory equipment and perform tasks necessary for welding metal using gas tungsten arc, metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, or other welding arcs.

-Control the processes of fitting, burning, and welding to avoid problems in relation to overheating, distortion, expansion, or shrinking of square parts.

-Examine finished products to ensure the product meets specifications.

-Prepare and set up necessary tools and equipment for welding jobs; including TIG, MIG, shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, or other welding equipment.

-Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.

-Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications

-Able to read and interpret blueprints, build documents.

-Able to produce a satisfactory weld which passes visual inspection for integrity and appearance.

-Able to utilize advanced fixtures to aid in the accuracy and precision of the weld.

-Able to operate a variety of welding equipment

-Knowledge of measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, and tape measures.

-Use of logic and reasoning in daily decision-making and problem solving.

-Able to lift up to 50lbs.

Education and Experience

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Technical degree/certificate in welding or comparable experience

· Minimum of 3 years TIG experience.
