Required Skills:

Software Engineer, Product Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, design, create, modify, and/or test software applications or systems for various products or software services such as the Facebook mobile app and the new user experience therein.

  2. Develop a strong understanding of relevant product area, codebase, and/or systems.

  3. For example, develop an understanding of the needs of different classes of users and how the new user experience software implementation meets their needs, executing projects to continuously improve this experience over time.

  4. Demonstrate proficiency in data analysis, programming, and software engineering.

  5. An example where this proficiency will be on display is when debugging problems with the applications and/or systems such as when a holdout is imbalanced and we need to understand why and resolve the problem.

  6. Produce high-quality code with good test coverage using modern abstractions and frameworks, following our general Engineering Excellence principles.

  7. May be assigned to specific group focused on product or infrastructure such as the New People team that works on the new user experience for the Facebook application.

  8. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.

  9. Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

  10. Master internal development standards from developing to releasing code in order to take on tasks and projects with increasing levels of complexity.

  1. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Applied Sciences, or a related field.

  2. Position also requires completion of a university-level course/research project/internship/thesis,

    1. Coding in at least one of the following industry-standard languages: C, C++, Java, or C#
    1. Building large-scale infrastructure applications
    1. Creating web applications using at least one of the following: Python, PHP, or Ruby
    1. Relational databases and SQL
    1. Implementing web interfaces using at least one of the following: JavaScript, HTML, or CSS.

Public Compensation:

$225,396/year to $240,240/year + bonus + equity + benefits
