Principal Accountabilities: Principal Accountabilities: Assist Team Leader in making sure all lines are achieving performance goals in their department including quality, yields, efficiency, supply waste, etc. The production lead will be responsible for keeping production lines running. For example, during the shift, there may be changeovers, which involve clearing the line of one type of product and preparing for the next product. It may require different materials, changing machine settings, and educating employees on the new product specifications. During the changeover, all products must be accounted for to determine product yields and productivity. If there is a mechanical problem on the line, the production lead must be able to re-assign employees to other lines and/or communicate with maintenance of the line that needs repair. This may also require entering a work order for the necessary repair. The production lead must use and review various software applications for mechanical work orders, labor productivity, yield and production reporting, time, and attendance, etc. to adequately report the activities of the department. The production lead must document personal property and equipment and delay sheet information. The production lead will perform safety and quality meetings to raise awareness on plant and department goals, plant rules, and plant activities. The production lead may work unsupervised on weekends as necessary. The production lead will not administer employee discipline but will give input toward it. Assist operations in determining opportunities to improve overall performance of the department. This may include presenting and acting upon ideas of better work methods or staffing of personnel to maximize efficiencies. The production lead is responsible for educating new employees on the safety, quality, and process requirements of various positions. This would include training on the personal protective equipment required, machine hazards, forklift traffic, quality specification of products, etc. The production lead must assure the proper meat handling, whether it be using the meat wash sinks, handling meat on the floor, cleaning or dealing with contaminates on the lines such as abscesses or grease is handled appropriately. Performs other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications Required v High school diploma and some degree of equivalent experience. v Must have good communications and people skills. v Must be self-motivated. v Must have good attendance record and an employee in good standing. v Able to lift up to 50 pounds. v Directly supports the supervisor of the production shift. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems. v Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond in group environments. v Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics inference, and fundamentals of geometry, trigonometry, and statistics. v Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of instructions and customer needs.
