Actalent Medical Technologist in Memphis, Tennessee

Medical Technologist

The Medical Technologist performs wet lab testing duties, primarily in the blood bank. The role involves handling and processing samples according to written procedures, performing various complexities of donor sample testing, and ensuring accuracy and compliance in test results. The Medical Technologist will notify supervision of any issues affecting test performance or reporting, perform quality control, calibration, and maintenance of instruments, and assist with Error and Accident Reports. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Follow written procedures for sample handling and processing.

  • Perform low, moderate, and high complexity testing of donor samples as authorized.

  • Review and evaluate test results/records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with procedural requirements.

  • Notify supervision of any problems that may affect testing performance or reporting.

  • Perform quality control, calibration, and instrument maintenance as specified in procedures.

  • Assist Management with the completion of Error and Accident Reports.

  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in medical laboratory techniques, including PCR DNA, urinalysis, and molecular testing.

  • Active ASCP or AMT Certification.

  • Tennessee licensure as a Medical Technologist.

  • Proficiency in chemistry and medical technology.

  • Experience with clinical lab specialist duties, EMR, CMA, and phlebotomy.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • ASCP Medical Technologist certification.

Work Environment

The Medical Technologist will work in a blood bank processing over 4,000 samples a day. Positions are available for the following shifts: 2nd shift (2:30 PM - 11:00 PM), 3rd shift (10:30 PM - 7:00 AM), and weekends (Friday to Sunday on 2nd and 3rd shifts). The role may be direct hire or contract-based (13 to 26 weeks) with per diem options available. Shifts may vary, and the manager can provide additional details on shift requirements

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
