Job Summary

The Associate Director Human Resources (HR) is responsible for consulting with employees and leaders company-wide to identify, implement and maintain a high degree of engagement, retention and productivity in the workforce and ensure HR operational excellence. The SM/AD HR is responsible for both strategic and on the ground tactical human resources support that is aligned to Charles River Laboratories (CRL) policies and guidelines, business initiatives, and achieve both short- and long-term organizational objectives. This is a people leader position and may supervise HR Generalist(s)/Business Partner(s), Specialist(s), and/or contractor(s).

Position will work on-site at the Memphis, TN Charles River location.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

HR Advisement and Consultation:

  • Partner and consult with leaders to support and execute on the overall people strategy

  • Proactively support leadership with recommendations on strategic levers including (but not limited to) org designs, workforce planning, talent development, talent reviews, reduction in forces, site closures, talent assessments, development programs, etc - designed to support future business needs and ensure continued growth.

  • Participate as an active member of the function's leadership team to drive the key people decisions and strategies

  • Partner with key stakeholders such as Global Talent Management, Global Compensation, Global Talent Acquisition, HR for HR to help drive consistency and streamline best practices

  • Leverage data to effectively guide business leaders in the execution of business strategies

Influence and Relationships:

  • Work closely with management and employees to maintain positive working relationships, build morale and engagement and increase productivity

  • Ability to build trust and credibility in order to effectively provide coaching and mentoring all levels of leaders including performance management, corrective coaching, and retention of staff

Support Culture and Engagement:

  • Promote a culture of inclusion and belonging

  • Support recognition efforts to drive retention of critical talent within the local site

  • Conduct effective, thorough and objective HR investigations, providing guidance and counsel to employees and managers with work-related, disciplinary and performance issues.

  • Stays current and knowledgeable of state and federal employment laws; immigration processes; etc.

  • Lead and drive local Engagement pulse survey participation, communication, and action planning with leaders

People Leadership:

  • Provide people leadership for direct reports

  • Support a culture of development by providing timely feedback, coaching, and engaging in individual development discussions

Program management:

  • Lead and drive critical HR programs within the function - performance management, bonus, merit and equity planning and talent reviews

  • Drive critical HR projects and programs that support the overall people strategy

Job Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Human Resources or related field.

  • Experience: 7 years minimum related experience

  • Certification/Licensure: SPHR preferred

  • Ability to perform complex analysis, and excellent communication skills required. Presentation skills preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • SHRM, HRCA or other accredited certification

  • Prior experience leading teams or individuals

Compensation Data

The pay range for this position is $125K - $150K USD annually. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
