Waste Connections Accounts Payable Clerk in Memphis, Tennessee

Waste Connections of TN is looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team! The Accounts Payable Clerk fields calls from vendors and works to resolve problems they raise concerning payment. A successful Accounts Payable Clerk must understand the Waste Connections business so they can resolve various types of AP concerns; i.e. issuing PO’s, ordering supplies, resolving billing discrepancies. An Accounts Payable Clerk must show empathy or sensitivity to the vendors regarding the issue at hand.

A typical schedule is Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm. Average workweek is approximately 45 Hours. Full benefits offered the 1st of the month following 60 days of employment.

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Work in conjunction with other departments, particularly the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Team, to resolve vendor disputes and payment issues

  • Work alongside the Management Team to issue purchase orders for district needs.

  • Maintain and run daily reports, such as the AP Management Report, PO Log, etc.

  • Research and process payments for unidentified invoices

  • Research open item corrections, such as PO’s without invoices

  • Reconcile invoices, including assessing county tax rates and freight charges

  • Data entry/filing

  • Contact vendors regarding any and all mischarges related to discrepancies in services rendered

  • Interact with vendors and the Management Team to determine service requirements, resolve problems or complaints, and seek cost-effective, safe environmentally sound solutions to service issues

  • Ad-hoc reports throughout the month

  • General office duties

  • Promote Waste Connections’ operating values and procedures

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 2 yearsof accounts payable experience.

  • Accrual based accounting experience preferred.

  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, and Email required. Typing and 10-key skills are required.

  • Excellent organization and communication skills
