The Opportunity:

In the capacity of a Senior Environmental Scientist, you will contribute environmental insights, guidance, and expertise to studies and engineering ventures encompassing water, rail, and road projects. Collaborating with internal and external professionals, you will formulate environmental solutions and provide technical leadership on a broad spectrum of issues, spanning soil, air, noise, stormwater, wastewater, flora and fauna, wetlands, lakes and streams, catchment and salinity management, water quality, and Acid Sulfate Soils (ASS). Proficiency in one or more of these areas is a specialized aspect of this role.

The position primarily supports projects in Victoria but may extend assistance to other KBR locations. It involves maintaining strong client relationships, identifying opportunities, contributing to proposals, budgets, and plans, managing stakeholders, and engaging with regulatory authorities. As a "seller/doer," you will take charge of managing small projects and proposals, and occasional additional responsibilities aligned with the role.

Who Are You?

As a team player, you are proactive and self-motivated, showcasing a high level of analytical and problem-solving ability, complemented by excellent communication skills.

Your qualifications and experience include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, particularly environmental sciences and/or biological sciences.

  • Substantial relevant work experience (6-10 years) in a comparable role.

  • Strong experience in evaluating and reporting environmental impacts, including contaminated land assessments.

  • Proficiency in developing and auditing environmental management plans and mitigation measures for construction sites.

  • Experience in project management and technical mentoring of junior staff.

  • Membership in a professional association.

  • Lead Auditor in Environmental Management Systems ISO 14001:2015 & ISO 19011:2018 (not mandatory but will be looked upon favourably)

  • Certification in Erosion and Sediment Control (not mandatory but will be looked upon favourably)
