Amazon Controls Engineer, APAC Controls Deployment & Service in Melbourne, Australia

Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage,

networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re

looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Controls Deployment & Service (CDS) Engineers deliver and support data center building automation systems, such as Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS). CDS Engineers work to deploy and service building automation systems, to ensure the health of our data centers. As a CDS Engineer, you may oversee deployment of a new BMS or EPMS as part of a new data center build, deliver projects to upgrade an existing data center owned or leased by Amazon, or deliver projects to upgrade colocated data centers with Amazon hardware. As a CDS Engineer, you may also be required to provide local servicing expertise to our fleet or data centers in your region, and occasionally assist with global support. Successfully working as a CDS Engineer will also require you to partner effectively with the many teams at Amazon that make our data center deployments and operations a success, including Construction, Commissioning, Critical Projects, Data Center Operations, Procurement, Program Management, Design, and Engineering teams, as well as maintaining strong relationships with our vendors.

Key job responsibilities

  • Deployment of data center controls, on time, with effective management of vendors to ensure minimal defects at the point of Power and Facilities Hand-Off (PFHO)

  • Delivery of critical projects to upgrade data center automation

  • Service and support provided to partner teams, providing diagnosis and resolution of Loss of Visibility (LOV), Loss of Resilience (LOR), Large Scale Event (LSE), Critical Scale Event (CSE), and other operations impacting events

  • Resolution of tasks within predefined Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

  • Delivery of further initiatives to improve the efficiency of our data centers or our operations procedures

Hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance (see https://www.agsva.gov.au/applicants/eligibility-and-suitability)

A day in the life

  • Join the cloud leader: Customers are choosing AWS over other providers because it has a lot more functionality, the largest and most vibrant community of customers and partners, the most proven operational and security expertise, and the business is innovating at a faster clip—especially in new areas such as Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, Serverless Computing, and custom-designed processors and chips.

  • Be at the nexus of action: Your involvement in data center delivery will be mission-critical to the successful deployment of our data centers. You won’t just be observing from the sidelines; you’ll be representing Amazon, building relationships across a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Build at scale: Build and operate infrastructure at an enormous scale, participating in Amazon’s global presence.

  • Your unique background will be an asset: At Amazon, our ability to innovate on behalf of our global customers and communities is dependent upon the skills, perspectives, and knowledge of people from all backgrounds.

  • Continuous growth and learning: You may not be an expert in AWS when you join our company, but you will have support to become one. Benefit from direct access to industry-leading specialists, latest training materials, and courses to propel your career.
