Rockdale Music Summer Camp Counselor in Media, Pennsylvania

Summer Music Camp Counselor for campers ages 4-16. Day-time hours, 8am-3pm

Counselor Specific Duties

  • Take group between classes.
  • Count, count, count! Before and after each class, count to make sure all your kids are there before proceeding to your next class.
  • Take the kids to the bathroom. Make sure they wash their hands and flush.
  • Make sure there is an adult in the room in whatever activity you are doing.
  • You are the one constant with your group. How you behave will set the tone for them. Be happy! Have fun! Sing along, dance, and join in all the activities. If you are having fun, your kids will have fun. Get to know each child... develop a relationship.

General Rules

  • Make sure you eat breakfast before you arrive at camp (you'll need all the energy you can get!). You may not eat while caring for the children.
  • Please be on time. The children count on seeing your face when they come in the morning.
  • Please wear sneakers -- we require the campers wear sneakers so we would like you to wear them as well for safety reasons.
  • Please wear a watch so you know when the groups need to change. ? You must leave your cell phone in the office each day when you come. Please give your loved ones our office number so they can call you if there is an emergency
  • Please "be present". Keep your mind on the job at hand.
  • DO NOT talk about the news or subjects not appropriate for young children. They have HUGE ears! Please watch your language.
  • Make sure there is no bullying.
  • Do not pick up a child.
  • Do not show favoritism.
  • If you have a child misbehaving, let the teacher handle it. If it continues to be a problem, take the child to see the camp director. General Information
  • Hours: 8:15 am to 12:30 pm Monday through Thursday; 8:15 am to 1:00 pm on Fridays (the kids put on a show on Fridays at 12:00). Full-day camp runs until 3:00 pm with after-care going until 4:00 pm.
  • We have two groups: Basses (the oldest group ages 6-7) and Trebles (ages 4-5).

Morning Drop Off

  • Parents drop off campers between 8:30 and 9:00 am each morning. You will help the kids get out of the cars.
  • Take each camper's lunch (full-day campers only) and put it in the refrigerator when you go to the kitchen.
  • Give out nametags every morning.
  • The children have free play from 9:00-9:30. The camp day begins at 9:30 am.

Snack Time

  • Sit down with kids while they eat their snacks.
  • Make sure they don't take huge amounts of food. Watch for choking.
  • During snack, let the kids have some quiet time (maybe ask them about their pets, what they like to eat, etc.)
  • Don't let campers share food (since some have allergies).
  • Children with severe food allergies will eat separately.
  • Campers should put their trash in the bin when done and go to play. Make sure each child picks up after themselves.

Pick-Up

  • Parents pick the half-day campers up between 11:45 am and 12:00 pm; full-day campers are picked up from 2:45 to 3:00 pm. Keep track of the kids and help them get in their car. Talk to the families about what the kids did that day in camp while you are helping them with their seat belts.

Clean Up

  • You will be assigned an area to take care of. Just make sure all areas are picked up before you go.
