Monogram Gourmet Foods Environment, Health & Safety Specialist in Medford, Massachusetts

Our team in the Boston area is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join us as an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist at our Medford, MA, location. As an EHS Specialist, you will play a key role in promoting a safe and compliant work environment at one of our USDA Bakery and Manufacturing facilities. This position is ideal for recent graduates from a related degree program or individuals with limited experience who are eager to grow in the field of Environmental, Health, and Safety. With positive performance, training, and development, the EHS Specialist will have promotional opportunities in environmental, health, and safety management at the Medford location or one of our additional Monogram Foods facilities. This individual will join our growing 16-member EHS team, while assisting the current EHS team to support our Boston area locations. Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain understanding and knowledge of current federal, state, consensus, and company standards, regulations, and policies. Inform organization of changes and administer actions to maintain compliance Develop and deliver training programs and materials Utilize Monogram EHS data management system for management of regulatory compliance and company requirement activities, and documentation of site incidents. Facilitate / lead / participate in job hazard analysis, system auditing, equipment / area safety procedures and ergonomic task analysis Facilitate incident analysis process to identify and apply solutions to EHS related continuous improvement opportunities Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations including, but not limited to: SARA Title III, air emissions, wastewater discharges, universal, hazardous and solid waste disposal and reduction, underground and above ground storage tanks, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Spill Prevention Control Countermeasure (SPCC), chemical approval Support the tracking, reporting, and interpretation of operational environmental performance Participate in leadership of site Process Safety Management compliance Emergency response planning and facilitation Medical emergency response Facilitate the preparation of the Facility Safety Plan each year, review with the local management team, and direct its implementation Lead and manage implementation of injury reduction efforts. Promote and drive Zero Injury Culture initiatives Support the tracking, reporting, and interpretation of operational safety performance. Analyze new equipment and verify operator safety Provide leadership and support for the plant safety committees Lead operation to world class safety and environmental practices Assist organization by participating in special task force assignments and special projects Ability to travel to occasional company sponsored workshops, learning opportunities, and assisting other sites. Skills and Abilities Ability to multi-task and balance priorities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to achieve results with efficiency and effectiveness Dedicated and committed EHS leadership and presence Medical response (First Aid / CPR minimum) - and ability to respond to and treat medical emergencies Solid people skills with professional demeanor Multi-lingual a plus Valid U.S. drivers license General Safety and Risk Management experience preferred Experience with or knowledge of Safety Management Systems (such as ANSI Z10, ISO 45001, VPP?) Applicable knowledge of State and Federal OSHA regulations Must have analytical reasoning and problem-solving capabilities Balanced approach to technical, business, and people aspects of business Knowledge and experience with Environmental practices, rules, and regulations a plus BS degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Engineering, or related field, or relevant, equivalent experience
