The DoDIN Enterprise Foundations Department is seeking a Group Leader (GL) to lead a team of Cybersecurity & Data Science SMEs across a wide spectrum of tasking in support of DoD CIO Cybersecurity, DISA and the Chief Digital and AI Office (CDAO). This includes tasking organic to the department and division in addition to support across the MITRE enterprise on tasking that aligns well with our capabilities. The successful candidate will be a critical member of the leadership team and will be responsible for building and leading an applied engineering team that includes individual contributors as well as project leaders.

The GL is expected to work in partnership with the department leadership team to provide the best MITRE staff to related projects and activities that cut across our sponsor work program. The ability to establish relationships and partnerships across critical MITRE program organizations and Innovation Labs is key to bringing the entire corporation to the fight on our sponsor’s toughest challenges.

The GL must exercise leadership and have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively supervise, develop, and manage team members. In addition, the GL will work closely with the department manager to ensure the delivery of quality technical products, recruiting, staff development and placement, as well as providing input into the growth of the work program.

The successful candidate is expected to:

  • Serve as Direct Supervisor (DS) and provide overall leadership for group members to facilitate the professional and career development of group staff through positive leadership, coaching, instruction, and mentoring

  • Provide timely and regular feedback to staff on performance and goal development

  • Actively contribute to technical work programs developing high quality technical products resulting in significant customer impact

  • Mentor and provide technical support to staff, conduct regular performance and development conversations and communication with Project or Task Leads

  • Identify appropriate project opportunities where staff can leverage and develop skills and create impact

  • Ensure staff work is aligned with division and department strategy and maximize staff potential, development and engagement

  • Help build and maintain a strong work program and technically proficient staff within the department and division

  • Participate in the department technical quality process and Mission Value Chain

  • Partner with the department manager in recruiting activities

  • Provide strong thought/technical leadership and serve as one of the domain experts in the group while actively contributing to the technical work program as a network engineer

  • Effectively communicate Corporate, Center, and Division strategy

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically Eight years of experience in the cybersecurity and/or AI domains and BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, AI, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, Physics or equivalent; or 6 years and Masters; or PhD with 3 years of experience; or relevant combination of related education and work experience.

  • Possess technical expertise and be a thought leader in a technology or domain applicable to cybersecurity, cyber system engineering, cyber architecture, cyber analytics

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teams, various sponsors, and across MITRE as appropriate. This includes leveraging relationships and experience to benefit staff and work programs.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ten years of experience in the cybersecurity and/or AI domain

  • Two years of experience leading people as a Group, Task, or Project Lead.

  • Actively contributing to N240 projects in AI or Cyber

  • MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, AI, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, Physics or equivalent

  • Experience supporting DoD CIO, CDAO or Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA)

  • Active top-secret clearance

  • Experience leading people as a Group, Task, or Project Lead.
