An excellent career opportunity is currently available for an R&D Technician II within Honeywell UOP’s R&D Materials Characterization group located in McCook, IL. This position provides a unique opportunity to analyze samples from across R&D, Pilot Plants, and commercial refineries around the world.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The R&D Technician II – Analytical Lab role will join our Riverside analytical team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in our research and development efforts, with a specific focus on gas chromatography, wet chemistry, and catalyst testing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform analytical testing on materials and process streams from R&D laboratory and pilot plants and manufacturing following internal procedures and industry guidelines.

• Responsible for setting up instruments, analyzing samples, conducting data quality checks and entering results into laboratory information system (LIMS).

• Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.

• Communicate with customers on analysis progress and results.

• Participate in method development and equipment troubleshooting activities.

• Provide coverage on a rotating basis for weekends or holidays as needed

YOU MUST HAVE:

•1+ year of experience with laboratory analyses using gas chromatography, wet chemistry, or organic or physical property testing techniques.

WE VALUE:

•Associates degree or Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics

•Scientific writing and presentation skills

•Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

•Excellent problem solving skills.

•Effective communication and teamwork skills.

•Knowledge of ASTM or UOP methods and UOP materials and processes

•Knowledge of and adherence to laboratory safety protocols.
