Universal Health Services Medical Assistant in MCALLEN, Texas

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The CMA/RMA is a vital position in the office because this person is in constant relationship with the patients. The CMA/RMA should be capable to deal with patient concerns, questions, and emotions to help us serve them the best we can. Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. Responsible for appointment and chart management. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services. Convey a positive image of the clinic.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Experience – Minimum of one year work experience in patient contact work, preferred.

  2. Essential Skills – Knowledge of health care field required. Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical specialty. Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families. Skill in performing task appropriately.

  3. Essential Physical Requirements – Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking, dressing, etc. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds of supplies.

  4. Working conditions – Combination of medical office and exam / procedure room settings. Well-lighted, well ventilated, adequate space.

  5. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

  1. Must have successfully completed a required course of Medical Assistant and received a diploma.

  2. New hires as of June 1, 2016 must have a current medical assistant certification and or registration and remain current thereafter.

  3. High School diploma, GED, or Higher Education required.

  4. Must have and maintain (AHA) CPR certification
