JOB SUMMARY:

This role is responsible for maintaining the supply chain for the company and managing the operational execution of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) strategies. Manages deliverables, resolves delivery and supply issues, and communicates between suppliers and the company. The Buyer is a member of the Customer Service team and collaborates with the other functional teams (Sales Operations, HR & Manufacturing Operations) on executing company strategies, meeting budgets and the work unit planned processes. This person must demonstrate hands-on leadership in unison with the Head of Customer Service on implementing strong cultural beliefs and values throughout the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES :

  1. Manages the execution of VMI strategies.

  2. Responds to inquiries from a variety of internal and external parties to provid e information and/or providing direction.

  3. Manage team of 8 buyers

  4. Main point of contact for customer needs

  5. Oversee projections across 4 different plants

  6. Monitors customer satisfaction of goods and services received.

  7. Manages customer backlog report to ensure timely delivery from suppliers .

  8. Expedites customer orders as needed .

  9. Ensures company policies and procedures are reviewed often and notifies the Head of Customer Service when such policies or procedures may need to be revised to increase work efficiency in the department .

  10. Maintains a variety of manual and electronic records of VMI transactions.

  11. Processes documents such as purchase orders, shipping documents, and commercial invoices to fulfill orders, collecting/distributing payments to and from customers and vendors.

  12. Reconciles purchase orders .

  13. Assists in purchase order management to fill production orders by monitoring and expediting PO's .

  14. Enters VMI and Consignment PO's as needed .

  15. Monitors account balances and related financial activity ensuring that allocations are accurate.

  16. Notifies customers if requested deliveries cannot be met and communicates new delivery dates .

  17. Manages confirmations to ensure pricing and delivery dates are accurate and contact suppliers on past due PO's and reschedule receipts accordingly .

  18. Maintains on time purchase orders from production facilities.

  19. May assume other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent certification

  • Supervisory or Management experience preferred.

  • Must have inventory control experience with a focus in VMI.

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel.

  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

  • Adaptable and dependable with ability to follow direction and work cooperation with others.

  • This position will require a person with excellent documentation, organization and communication skills with the ability to learn quickly and improve existing operations, systems and methods. An elevated level of accuracy and attention to detail is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

ACTIVITIES:

Sedentary office work, sitting long.

HEARING:

Must be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

REPETITIVE MOTION:

Must be able to frequently and regularly use wrists, hands, and or fingers.

VISUAL ABILITIES:

Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents, products, or operate machinery.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH:

Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds throughout the day.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Most of the time is spent in an office setting outside of the production plant. The plant environment is wet, damp, and cold (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
