Our Curries brand (an ASSA ABLOY company) is building out our Test Facility and we have created a position for a Test Facility Technician.

This will be an on-site position that will be based out of our Curries Innovation Technology Center located about 10-15 minutes from our main building in Mason City, Iowa.

What would you do as our Test Facility Technician?

You will assist with setting up and testing of our products. Your results will help us to ensure that our doors can withstand fire, hurricanes, etc. You will review and document your results.

You would also:

  • Ensure all applicable Safety requirements are maintained and applicable personal protective equipment (PPE) is used.

  • Follow the Quality Manual, Procedures, and work instructions to support listing organization (UL, Intertek, etc.) accreditation of the Test Facility.

  • Assist in creating and/or maintaining work instructions, procedures, quality documents, and calibration records.

  • Help to maintain expertise on relevant test standards and gain familiarity on new test standards.

  • Help to ensure inventory levels to meet testing requirements.

  • Coordinate ordering and control of Test Facility inputs (e.g., test procedures, construction materials, contractors, sample materials, etc.) to support accreditation requirements.

  • Support, author, and control documentation of Test Facility outputs (e.g., test reports, test videos, return of samples, etc.).

  • Provide testing and design assistance to Test Facility clients.

  • Maintain control of instrumentation including proper use and storage to support Test Facility requirements.

  • Obtain and record required test data.

  • Perform basic preventative maintenance to test apparatus and facility equipment.

  • Perform day to day up-keep and janitorial duties as required for facility and grounds.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Actively participate in providing a safe and harmonious working environment for all employees.

  • Comply and enforce compliance of all state and federal regulations, Company standards and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.

    What we are looking for:

  • GED or equivalent.

  • Must possess building / construction experience/exposure. Proficiency in CMU and drywall construction a plus

  • Possess the ability to construct test walls and install doors, frames and hardware with minimal or no supervision.

  • Must have welding (light steel and sheet metal) experience/exposure.

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of work experience in fenestration testing or related field

  • Ability to lift 50-70lbs and comfortable working on a ladder, operating a scissor lift and lift-truck or possess the ability to learn.

  • Knowledge of to be listed as a signatory for the lab documentation with label agencies. (UL, Intertek, etc.)

  • Possess an attention to detail, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and handle tasks or projects with competing priorities.
