Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, Cell & Gene Therapy, the VP Business Development, Cell & Gene Therapy - North America (“VPBD, CGT NA”) oversees the business development organization and is responsible for leading the team in identifying, qualifying, and pursuing business opportunities within North America to achieve annual sales and revenue goals and build a customer and project pipeline to support the long-term strategic plan.
Lead all new business development efforts to achieve annual sales and revenue targets for the Cell & Gene Therapy North America / CGT NA.
Execute actions to achieve the customer/product mix and establish the pipeline as defined by the strategic plan and growth objectives.
Build, coach, manage, train, and motivate the business development team for CGT NA
Achieve annual sales, revenue, and funnel targets to ensure continued growth.
Work with commercial operations and legal teams to oversee negotiation and closure of long-term customer contracts.
Partner closely with marketing to define and implement marketing and targeting strategies to drive growth in new business funnel.
Act as a relationship manager for key customers (in partnership with General Manager, CGT Leadership Team, etc.).
Develop and maintain business relationships at all levels to ensure the continued growth of CGT book of business.
Participates in sales meetings, tradeshows and partnering events.
Utilize the CRM database to input and provide information that will increase effectiveness and aid sales.
Work with Operations, Quality and Project Management with understanding project requirements so that an accurate and timely quotation can be prepared.
Negotiation of CDAs, quotations, and MSAs (Master Service Agreements).
BA/BS/PhD degree in a Life Sciences discipline
Location requirement: Greater Baltimore, MD area strongly preferred however northeast/mid-Atlantic can be considered and relocation support available.
Existing knowledge of the Cell and/or Gene Therapy field is strongly preferred
Must have strong Biologics experience (biologics bioprocessing) if no Cell and/or Gene Therapy experience
10+ years’ relevant experience in sales or transferrable skills.
Experience in a executive level Business Development role strongly preferred
Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% of their time
Previous experience with a CDMO organization preferred.
Outstanding ability to build key customer relationships with the ability to educate and demonstrate technical value propositions to promote the Catalent difference

High aptitude to learn technical and scientific information, Detail oriented.
Ability to work independently, within prescribed guidelines, and as a team member
Ability to recognize the needs of the customer and collaborate with the clinical areas to develop proposals that exceed customer expectations

Strong negotiation and persuasion skills
