We are searching for an AI and DSP Applications Software Staff Engineer to be a part of the AI Processor team that is responsible for developing machine learning based applications and use cases developed for Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. The candidate will work on new cutting-edge hardware accelerators in the areas of artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision and video processing and contribute to research and development of new applications that bring artificial intelligence to mobile and edge devices.

Responsibilities include working with the team on software architecture and design, development, integration, test, and support of these applications for the Qualcomm Snapdragon AI Processor. Focusing on frameworks that support AI post-processing for video playback, gaming, camera, and other multimedia use cases, the candidate should be able to work with multiple teams to determine and understand requirements and resolve technical issues. The candidate will also be responsible for supporting customers (internal as well as external).

The candidate should be able to read abstract problem definitions, define problem statements, design and ensure that goals of our end users and technology are met. The candidate is expected to follow and demonstrate strong software development practices and processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

OR

Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 3+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop processing frameworks running on Android, Linux, and other high level operating systems as well as AI Processor to enable AI based multimedia use cases and hardware accelerators.

  • Test and validate algorithms for image quality, performance, and power

  • Collaborate across functional boundaries in defining architecture, APIs, design

  • Explore opportunities outside of mobile, including Automotive, IoT, XR, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Senior candidates (7+ years) are welcome to apply with experience in the following areas:

  • Strong knowledge of Modern C++ and C; demonstrable experience with other object-oriented languages a plus

  • Deep understanding of software development principles and practices, object-oriented design

  • Familiar with computer/hardware architecture and operating systems

  • Real-time software development concepts

  • Experience working in a development team, using collaboration toolsets that include source control, code review, and continuous integration/continuous deployment

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Python

  • Experience with Linux development

  • Experience with embedded software development

  • Understanding of Android Native/HAL and Android multimedia frameworks (MediaCodec, Android Graphics, Camera HAL) a plus

  • Knowledge of high-performance computing

  • Basic understanding of Machine learning, Computer vision, and Digital image processing is a bonus
