About this role

The Mental Health Director oversees the clinical and administrative aspects of the Mental Health program and staff within a facility,providingconsultation and clinical supervision as needed. They also provide mental health services to inmates, consistent with their professional training and experience. As aDirector, they play a key role in ensuring the quality of mental health services and programs, and work collaboratively with facility staff and management to achieve this goal.

What you bring to the table

Education

  • Masters or doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology, social work or related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience

  • Two years of experience in the coordination and administration of mental health service delivery systems preferred. Correctional healthcare experience strongly preferred.

  • Significant coursework and professional experience in the mental health field that indicates knowledge of management and supervision techniques, peer review, quality assurance, group and individual psychotherapy, diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders, and psychological evaluation techniques.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed to practice psychology, social work or related field in the state of employment by the appropriate state licensing board.

  • Must maintain CPR certification, and any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract.

What you will do

  • Provide clinical and administrative oversight, supervision, and direction to mental health professionals, ensuring compliance with healthcare policies and procedures, professional standards, and staff position descriptions.

  • Allocate staff resources to meet institutional needs for mental health services andmaintainopen communication with institutional administrative, security, medical, and support staff.

  • Develop and implement goals,objectives, policies, and procedures for clinical services provided and carry out staffselectionand recruitment in cooperation with the Health Services Administrator.

  • Direct and supervise mental health treatment planning, activity therapy program, crisis intervention services, clinical documentation, and staff development and meetings.

  • Providedirect clinical services and notify the Regional Director of Mental Health or VP of Mental Health of clinical concernsimpactingindividual patients or the mental health services program.

Qualifications & Requirements
