BAE Systems Senior DevOps Software Engineer in Manchester, New Hampshire

Job Description

This opening is for a large and dynamic program developing an Electronic Warfare (EW) product onboard a military jet aircraft. This position is responsible for maintaining and improving the Software Development Environment, most specifically in the area of the DevOps pipeline. The software team operates in a highly collaborative environment with mentorship readily available and ample opportunity to learn and grow. All phases of software development are underway in different technical areas, offering a variety of challenging work. This program is funded and expected to continue for years to come.

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time .

Job Details:

We are looking for Software Engineers to join our Software Development Environment (SDE) team. Candidates must be interested in pursuing a deep technical understanding of the software development environment and in finding ways to improve it. We are looking for individuals who can quickly troubleshoot failed tests and collaborate with our Subject Matter Experts to determine root cause. Candidates must have experience in test automation and in scripting. Software development opportunities are available on the SDE team in the form of debug and troubleshooting, Python scripting, and potentially custom tool implementation. Additionally, C development opportunities will arise as the suite of regression and unit tests are expanded.

The work includes:

Prototyping a modernized build system to unlock much greater automation potential

Automating existing Windows tests to run in Jenkins and in a lab environment

Improving the entire software test infrastructure

Add automated checks into the process to encourage better development behaviors, like adherence to coding standards and reduction of technical debt

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related area with 4 years of experience or Master's degree in same disciplines with 2 years of experience

Current Secret Security Clearance (active within 2 years)

Software test automation experience

Scripting expertise

A strong problem-solving mentality

The ability to deep-dive into problems

Good communication skills to navigate cross-discipline hurdles

Experience with OO/high level development

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Familiarity with DevOps

Experience using software tools like Git, Jira, Confluence, and BitBucket

Software development background

Jenkins experience

CI/CD pipeline development experience

Advanced Windows troubleshooting knowledge

Proficient in C development

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $95106 - $161680

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
