What Is the Opportunity?

Travelers are recruiting for a Claim Team Manager to join our team based in Manchester or London.

In this role you will lead a team of highly trained and high-performance Claim Professionals who handle Professional & Financial lines claims, including PI, D&O, FI and Transactional Liability/W&I matters. As we continue to evolve our claim propositions both internally and externally this role will be key to the successful operation of the claims handling function.

-Capable of coaching and developing people's careers to ensure that they can deliver to the limit of their abilities.

-Excellent communication skills ensuring that all team members understand the vision of the company and how their role will contribute to long term success.

-A track record of objectively assessing performance, identifying opportunities and successfully delivering tailored performance improvement strategies.

-Ability to leverage data to ensure that decisions are being made using accurate and relevant information.

Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro rata for part-time employees). This policy may be changed at the Company’s discretion.

This role is eligible for a £5000 new joiner bonus. If you are successfully referred by an employee at Travelers Europe, both you and the person who referred you could be eligible for this bonus.

What Will You Do?

  • Build and maintain a high-performance team.

  • Implement the overall claim strategy for delivering a right touch claim service.

  • Be an integral part of a continuous improvement environment seeking out opportunities to evolve our value propositions.

  • Ensure regular reporting to senior management and key stakeholders at Travelers on significant or complex and high value claims. Communicate significant large reserve adjustments, high exposure or high sensitivity losses, claim trends, legal decisions and issues which may impact the product line to both claim and underwriting management.

  • Maintain partnerships across the organisation and be able to influence senior leaders, be open to change and comfortable operating in an environment of continuous improvement. You should be flexible, anticipate department needs ensuring that your team is connected to the goals of the organisation.

  • Provide direction and effectively lead by example to ensure that your team are energised to deliver success.

  • As part of Travelers' continued growth of MGA claims portfolios across various jurisdictions include the UK, Europe and the U.S,work with our MGA manager on hold responsibility for managing and reviewing Claim Handling Agreements with our MGAs on both delegated and non-delegated authority business, working with internal stakeholders including underwriting, operations and claim to achieve suitable terms.

  • Attend claim review meetings and oversee relationships with our MGAs, identifying any matters that may require further exploration from a financial, coverage or regulatory exposure perspective. Ensuring a strategy is developed to progress those enquiries.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Experience of change management is a distinct advantage.

  • Experience of managing performance improvement programmes

What is a Must Have?

  • Experience in Claim handling and or the management of Claim handling as a service.

  • General knowledge of using metrics and KPIs to deliver successful outcomes.

  • General knowledge and experience in engaging with business stakeholders and building successful strategies.

  • Thorough knowledge of and experience in the handling Claim processes and procedures.

  • Experience in managing teams.

What Is in It for You?

  • Retirement: Travelers will make a basic contribution of 9% of pensionable salary to your Group Personal Pension Plan (“GPPP”). If you decide to contribute an additional amount from your salary, you will receive an increased company contribution up to a maximum of 3%. This would bring the total company contribution to 12%.
