A Process Manager at Micron Technology, Inc. in Manassas, VA (MTV) will be responsible for leading and developing the Thin Films Process Engineering team and promoting safe processes and practices throughout the site. The Team's mission is to strategically identify, characterize and improve the area's overall cost, output and quality performance through data-driven analysis and driving subsequent improvements.

In this position you will lead all staffing, training, and personnel development of the process team. You will be required to provide metrics to gauge the success of the team and develop goals and provide timelines for completion. You will also be expected to work closely with other process areas to resolve yield, defect and quality issues. Additionally, you will be responsible for evaluating data generated by the Process Engineers, RDA, PI, YE and sister Fabs and evaluate the quality of data collected, draw conclusions based on the data and initiate follow-up actions. You will work closely with the area leadership to support site and company initiatives and set the strategic direction for the department.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Lead and optimize thin films deposition processes to meet production goals and quality standards.

  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, yield, and product performance.

  • Work closely with multi-functional teams, such as R&D, Quality, and Engineering, to support new product development and process transfers.

  • Monitor process performance and resolve issues to minimize downtime and defects.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

  • Train and mentor team members to build technical expertise and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of processes, procedures, and performance metrics.

  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in thin films technology.

Allocates the vital resources to ensure shift readiness.

Places personnel within the organization to best fit individual talent and area requirements.

Effectively plans for required capacity and product mix adjustments. Insures workforce is properly assigned and advised to meet required timelines.

Provides direction in the development of systems to lead the quality of response.

Seeks to understand difficult situations before making critical strategic decisions.

Champions the management teams participation in setting area operation metrics.

Uses available resources and systems (like KT) to inform decision-making.

Internal climate

Performance Management:

Ensures that individualized development plans are created for each member of the team.

Meets one-on-one regularly with direct reports to review team member performance, provide feedback and clarify expectations.

Insures effective management of underperformance. Consistent in dealing with these in a timely fashion.

Effectively uses informal feedback to direct employees toward desired performance and expectations.

Team Building:

Helps employees understand how their work relates to both short and long term corporate/fab and area goals (LOS).

Encourages, mentors and empowers team members to propose their ideas and supports implementation. Promotes intelligent risk taking.

Mentors direct reports on how to successfully champion department/corporate/fab initiatives.

Provides active leadership to drive group to higher levels of proficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in thin films deposition processes or other relevant areas.

  • Solid understanding of thin films deposition techniques such as PVD, CVD, ALD, and sputtering.

  • Consistent track record of process optimization and problem-solving in a high-volume production setting.

Preferred Skills:

  • Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.

  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and semiconductor manufacturing processes.
