Data Engineer, Specialist (The Vanguard Group, Inc. / Malvern, PA) -- Write Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) processes, design database systems, and develop tools for real-time and offline analytic processing; troubleshoot software and processes for data consistency and integrity and integrate large scale data from a variety of sources for business partners to generate insight and make decisions; translate business specifications into design specifications and code; write complex programs, ad hoc queries, and reports; ensure that all code is well structured, includes sufficient documentation and is easy to maintain and reuse; partner with internal clients to gain an enhanced understanding of business functions and informational needs; utilize expertise in tools, technologies and applications/databases in specific business areas and company-wide systems; lead all phases of solution development and explain technical considerations at related meetings including those with internal clients and less experienced team members; test code thoroughly for accuracy of intended purpose; review end product with client to ensure adequate understanding and provide data analysis guidance as required; design and conduct training sessions on tools and data sources used by team and self-provisioners; provide aid to team members and business users; test and implement new software releases through regression testing and identify issues and engage with vendors to resolve and elevate software into production; provide support of non-production and production environments, both domestic and internationally; engage in projects related to design and enhancement of existing infrastructure; test and implement new software/script releases through regression testing and code reviews; identify issues and engage with needed partners to resolve and identify root causes. Requires Master's in Data Analytics, Computer Science, or closely related field and two years of experience in job offered or in IT position(s) including Hadoop Developer and/or Big Data Engineer; or Bachelor's and five years of experience. Background in education, training or experience must include development of applications with PySpark, Spark; worked with product environments ETL, Data Warehousing, Big Data and Hadoop; proficient SQL experience in querying, data extraction/transformations and developing queries for a wide range of applications; proficient in designing Manual and Automated testing frameworks. Company operates on hybrid model with three days in office and work-from-home available two days.
