What are we looking for?

The Assistant Learning & Development Manager serving Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi will be responsible for supporting the Director of Learning & Development and coordinate with all departments in order to facilitate training needs, planning, organizing, conducting and evaluating training programs for team members of all levels.

What will I be doing?

  • Be a role model to represent Human Resources and Training team. Building a good relationship with team members of all levels. Understand all training initiatives, channels and be able to communicate and give general advices and assistance to Team Members.
  • Take part and support in learning and development needs within the organization through observation, job analysis, appraisal schemes, etc.
  • Coordination with departmental coordinator/ Departmental trainer to follow up on the training plans and initiatives in order to ensure related arrangements and successful completion of training activities and events.
  • Keep track on training equipment and materials ensuring stock levels and availability at all times. Maintain records of movements and follow on maintenance when needed.
  • Ensure the training room is always in good condition. Set up ready for all scheduled trainings. Keep track and update the scheduled usage of the training room
  • Maintain standard training filing system as advised by Director of Learning & Development. All training records must be filed accordingly and related certificates must also be copied and filed in Team Members’ personal file working with Human Resources.
  • Maintain and update training matrix on a regular basis including all mandatory eLearning on Hilton University and classroom training. Always ready to as a reference for Team Member’s training progress also for inspection in terms of audit perspective.
  • Assist Director of Learning & Development to prepare the training plan for new team members, assignments of eLearning based on Brand Required Learning Document.
  • Support and follow up with departmental trainers on monthly departmental training activities and maintain records as advised by Director of Learning & Development.
  • Maintain and update Training Report as advised by Director of Learning & Development.
  • Delivery of certain training and development programs in a manner that is easily understandable to trainees and in a way that motivates them.
  • Keep up to date with developments in training by reading relevant journals, going to meetings and attending courses.
  • Arrange training programs for and regularly follow up on trainees from local and overseas hotel schools. Maintain records and follow up the evaluation accordingly.
  • Act as Secretary for the Training Committee maintaining meeting minutes and follow up on the action points.
  • Communicate positive and regularly through training communication channels such as bulletin boards, Waldorf Astoria community, Facebook, etc. supporting a living learning culture in a positive manner.
  • Safeguard soft copies of proprietary training materials entrusted to him/her.
  • The Resort requires that you perform any task deemed necessary by the Director of Learning & Development and Director of Human Resources for the efficient running of the Human Resources Department specifically and the Resort in general.
  • Ensure that luxury brand training is conducted according to the schedule and maintain up-to-date records.
  • Establish and execute talent development and succession plans for top performers, coordinating with department heads as necessary.

What do I need?

• Degree or Diploma in a related field

• At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role in a luxury Resort/Hotel.

• Proficient level of written and verbal English.

• Positive attitude and strong communications skills.

• Ability to take initiative.

• Knowledge of training techniques.

• Proficiency, at an intermediate to expert level, with computers and computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

• Methodical and well organized.

• Strong organizational, planning and analytic skills.

• A passion for delivering exceptional levels of Guest service.

• Excellent grooming standards.

• Flexible, reliable, accountable and resilient.

• Ability to work under pressure.
