Position Overview:
MVRCS seeks a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher for Grades 7–12. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality instruction aligned with the Core Knowledge curriculum and, at the high school level, may teach courses within the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) program.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver daily instruction to five science classes, using Core Knowledge and IB methodology.
Design and implement lessons based on clear learning objectives and school standards.
Assess and monitor student progress regularly, providing timely feedback through progress reports and report cards.
Administer standardized assessments as directed by the department and school leadership.
Collaborate weekly with Science Department colleagues, including the Department Chair, to align instruction, analyze data, and improve student outcomes.
Implement the school’s classroom management system with consistency and fidelity.
Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing professional development.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Science Department Chair and/or Assistant Director.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, General Science, or a related field required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Analytical and problem-solving abilities to support data-informed instruction.
Commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.
Familiarity with relevant educational laws, standards, and best practices.
Ability to create and deliver effective lesson plans tailored to student needs.
Experience with student assessment and data-driven instruction.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Must pass applicable Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) within one year of hire.
Supervision and Evaluation:
This position reports to the Science Department Chair and is subject to annual evaluation. It is a yearly appointment.
