Job Description
As a Sample Prep Technician, you will assist prep staff with labeling containers, glass washing, and transporting samples. You will be on your feet all day and need a high attention to detail. You will work in a food lab, performing repetitive duties such as reducing, labeling, and storing samples. You will use liquid nitrogen to prepare samples for chemists to test, and will need strong documentation skills to follow company regulations. This role requires flexibility to work overtime based on workload.
Responsibilities
Assist prep staff with labeling containers and glass washing
Transport samples to the required locations
Reduce samples to powder or liquid form using liquid nitrogen
Label and store samples
Use a 5lb hammer to grind samples
Stand for the majority of the day (90%+)
Follow company regulations and maintain strong documentation
Essential Skills
High attention to detail
Ability to follow company regulations
Strong documentation skills
Comfortable working independently
Reliable with good references
1+ years experience with Microsoft Word and Excel programs
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associates degree in Biotechnology with 2 years of industry lab experience or High School diploma with 3-4+ years of good work history in a repetitive work environment
Ability to lift 40-50 lbs
Experience in lab assistant, sample prep, solution prep, sample management, sample receiving, accessioning
Work Environment
You will work in a loud but fun prep lab. The environment is fast-paced and can be repetitive, depending on your group. The company has recently moved to a new location and is experiencing a 20% increase in tests, creating more promotional opportunities. The Sample Prep team consists of 12-15 employees on 1st and 2nd shifts. The lab tests food and dietary supplements for nutritional value and operates in a production-like environment to meet client deadlines.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $20.17/hr.
