JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The faculty, students, and staff in the Department of Biomolecular Chemistry (BMC), as part of the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH), are engaged in an array of research, teaching, and service activities to meet the needs of our world-class educational institution. The department is housed within the Hector Deluca Biochemical Sciences complex, a state-of-the-art research and instructional complex located on Henry Mall, and has a reputation for carrying out federally funded, high-level, competitive biomedical research. A primary goal for this Post Award Accountant position is to support members of the BMC Department who are engaged in sponsored (externally funded) biomedical research and to provide consistent, insightful reporting related to the department\'s vibrant research portfolio. Working under the general supervision of and reporting to the Department Administrator, this individual provides support in purchasing, financial reporting and analysis, and recommendations to faculty, and is expected to continually seek out knowledge in related areas to facilitate accomplishment of assigned responsibilities. Furthermore, the Post Award Accountant is a key contributor to ensuring high-level professional support in preparing and submitting grant proposals and related reports to secure funding from outside agencies and organizations. In addition to working collaboratively with the Department Administrator and department faculty, the Post Award Accountant works to implement the broad goals of the BMC department at UW-Madison. By supporting the faculty, students, and staff of the department in securing and managing funding of their research, this individual is pivotal in enabling the mission of the department. May directly process and/or approve accounting transactions such as cost transfers, procurement, sub award management, and financial processing related to sponsored project management.
