JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) is searching for a Learning Support Specialist to help coordinate daily operations of the academic mentoring program, plan and execute learning support and advising programming, and help supervise and train student staff. This includes organizing one-on-one and small-group academic mentoring by request, programming study events, and facilitating the formation of study groups and accountability groups. They serve as an academic advisor to a small group of students and work closely with other staff to promote the overall mission and objectives of CAE. The Learning Support Specialist is part of the Academic Advising and Academic Mentoring team within CAE. CAE is home to several initiatives that support student success in the College of Letters and Science (L&S), including the Summer Collegiate Experience (SCE); the L&S STEM Scholars Initiative, and the CAE Cohort program. These programs work together to offer an enriching, inclusive community for L&S students who are from low-income or rural backgrounds, or the first in their family to attend college. CAE provides a variety of engagement opportunities to students, including holistic academic advising, peer and academic mentoring, paid research opportunities, health and wellness events, social events, graduate school and career preparation, and connection with learning communities to facilitate learning and collaboration.
