The Role

The Lead Procurement Manager will be responsible to manage the spend for a variety of products and services, supporting various Lumen business operations functions. This role is expected to proactively develop and execute category strategies; identify and cultivate vendor relationships; and develop and implement process improvement efforts, that result in realized efficiency, improved performance, mitigate or avoid risks, and produce savings and cost avoidance. The Lead Procurement Manager will effectively develop and cultivate relationships, both internally & externally, and matrix manage teams across various business functions. This role is key in managing highly complex and significant vendor agreements and relationships across multiple high-spend and complex commodities.

The Main Responsibilities

• Provides thought leadership that is recognized across the company. Continually identifies and executes against opportunities for cost savings, efficiencies and proactively tracks progress towards these objectives. Independently prepares and presents advanced business cases, return on investment models and change management programs to stakeholders and senior management. Applies advanced procurement, supply chain/sourcing principles, theories and concepts.

• Collaborate with functional business unit owners to understand strategic roadmaps, develop procurement & sourcing strategies which meet the needs of the business, execute on contracts that maximize value and mitigate risk.

• Develops category portfolios detailing key stakeholders, suppliers, competitive landscape and procurement strategy for the categories assigned.

• Improves vendor on time/quality performance, settles vendor disputes, and builds alliances and relationships with strategic vendors. Identifies cross functional savings opportunities, develops the corresponding strategies and executes against those strategies.

• Provides subject matter expertise in the resolution of complex problems that cross a range of topics and processes. Ensure issues and constraints are properly addressed and resolved.

• Identifies, develops and implement opportunities to drive process improvement, improved efficiency and impact of the procurement organization.

• Lead all phases of sourcing and contracting initiatives for complex, multi-million dollar projects.

• Draft, negotiate and interpret contract provisions, communicating potential contract, supply chain, and/or economic risks to impacted parties. Determine and communicate implications of solutions and decisions on customer, supplier and company goals.

• Ability to analyze and make decisions based on financial data

• Drives supplier performance through development of performance evaluation criteria and leading supplier performance management discussions.

• Delivers against targets related to cost reduction / avoidance, supplier rationalization and internal customer satisfaction.

• Creates and delivers Executive presentations in support of key initiatives and business decisions.

• Demonstrates Lumen’s values, maintains a positive open demeanor, values different points of view, navigates change; provides timely information; communicates context for business decisions; fosters teamwork and collaboration.

• Ensure adherence to corporate policies and processes.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and relevant experience

• Minimum 8 plus years of related experience or combined experience and applicable education

• Demonstrated leadership, communication and project management skills working with cross-functional teams.

• Experience effectively communicating with various levels of leadership across a variety of business functions

• Experience with developing/mentoring/coaching procurement professionals

• Experience developing and managing supplier relationships for an assigned set of products and/or services including regular supplier performance reviews and discussions.

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment; self-motivated; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to process large amounts of often complex data; detail oriented.

• Intermediate to advanced professional experience in category management, contracting, contract negotiation and sourcing.

• Strong to expert knowledge of procurement systems such as SAP, Ariba or other contract management/procurement systems.

• Excellent time management and organizational skills.

• Experience working in a fast-paced, high visibility environment with frequently shifting priorities.

• Intermediate to advanced experience using Microsoft Office products to include PowerPoint, Excel and Word

Preferred:

• Intermediate to advanced experience using Microsoft Office 365 Power Apps

• Intermediate to advanced experience managing Network infrastructure and associated services/construction.

• Intermediate to advanced experience with data analytics tools for spend analysis such as Power BI, Tableau, and FiAddin

• Experience with effectively applying AI in a procurement or other role

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$94420 - $125890 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.

$99390 - $132510 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.

$104360 - $139140 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.

$109330 - $145770 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
