We are seeking an experienced Field Safety Rep at our jobsite near Verona WI.

Summary:

  • Schedule: 6/10's every other week. 5/10 .

  • Focus on ensuring field safety programs and policies are in place which promote a safe work environment; ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory guidelines.

  • Areas of responsibility include employee safety, accident & incident prevention, safe work practices, safety orientation & training, field safety audits, emergency response, and safety policies & procedures administration. Conduct near miss, accident and environmental investigations, and complete comprehensive site audits both environmental and field.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains a proactive internal safety audit program to monitor employee work practices and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Company safety standards.

  • Participates in addressing accidents, incidents and near misses through timely fact-finding investigation, determination of root cause, and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.

  • Keeps the HS&E Manager and local management informed on safety and health issues and progress toward accomplishing safety goals and objectives.

  • Performs workplace safety orientations for new employees, as required, and refresher workplace safety training for existing employees.

  • Trains and instructs foremen, superintendents and engineers to ensure compliance by field employees with safety policies and procedures.

  • Stays knowledgeable about all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to safety and health issues and ensures compliance in each of these areas.

  • Performs other related duties as may be assigned or requested by immediate supervision.

  • Participates in other safety and environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of state/federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.

  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining supply of all safety related items(PPE, signage, first aid kits, etc.)

  • Responsible and accountable for the safety of all co-workers and any others incumbent comes in contact with.

  • Authorized and obligated to stop work on any task or series of tasks whenever an unsafe condition or situation is anticipated or is observed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Education & Training:

  • Must have completed coursework towards or have obtained a degree in Safety or similar.

  • OSHA 30 certification is required.

    Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a safety facilitator or equivalent position and able to illustrate the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties in construction.

  • Working knowledge of local, state and federal safety regulations, accident & incident prevention, and emergency response

  • This individual must be able to effectively interface with employees at all levels.

  • Basic computer skills, including MS Word, Excel

  • Ability to develop and foster a positive work environment at all levels. Ability to resolve conflicts using problem resolution skills.

  • Ingenuity, resourcefulness and creativity are necessary to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Company standards, to develop safe work practice procedures, and achieve established goals and objectives.

  • The incumbent must possess ability to remain calm when emergencies occur and respond appropriately depending on the circumstances of the incident. Must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Walking, stepping, climbing or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, and normally involves physically climbing equipment of varying heights and access parameters

  • Standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing or sitting for long periods of time

  • Lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs. as required

  • Adapting to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure to extreme weather

  • Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment to work or visit the work locations including hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, gloves, and steel toed shoes or other equipment that may be required by the work being performed.
