job summary:

A Test Technician is needed for one of the largest suppliers of industrial and environmental machinery to the power, oil, gas, chemical and other industries in the Lynchburg, VA area. This Test Technician role involves supporting product testing across various projects, including executing test plans, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, and ensuring thorough documentation, with a focus on torque testing and motor calibration.

work hours: 8am to 4pm

responsibilities:

  • Function as a member of the Product Engineering department, supporting testing for R&D projects and maintaining current products in production.

  • Execute test plans, provide test stand support, and keep stakeholders informed of testing progress.

  • Conduct torque testing for new features and assist with motor calibration.

  • Manage multiple initiatives and projects simultaneously.

  • Set up and calibrate sensors and instrumentation to gather test data.

  • Analyze and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Document projects, test procedures, and results thoroughly.

Skills:

  • Experience with load, torque, and temperature sensors, signal conditioning, and instrumentation.

  • strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Good analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in writing procedures and test reports.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with LabVIEW equipment and software.

  • Understanding of AC and DC electric motor design and operation.

  • Hands-on experience with single-phase and three-phase electric systems.

  • Knowledge of gearing, bearings, and power transmission.

Education: A.S. in Engineering Technology (electronics or mechanical) or Physics (in pursuit of degree accepted).
