Air Education and Training Command SUPERVISORY RECREATION SPECIALIST (AQUATICS DIRECTOR) in Luke AFB, Arizona

Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Silver Wings Swimming Pool on Luke AFB, AZ. This is a Flexible position, no guaranteed hours or benefits. The first applicant list will be pulled 22-Feb-24, then every two weeks until position is filled. Responsibilities Works directly for the Supervisory Recreation Specialist and is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the Aquatics operation. Plans, coordinates, oversees, and teaches Aquatic training and certification courses to include Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety instructor, Red Cross CPR/First Aid, and Water Fitness IAW with Air Force regulations and standards. Develops, designs, implements, and analyzes formal and informal needs assessments in order to ensure the assigned programs adequately and effectively address the needs of the customers. Plans, coordinates, and operates aquatics recurring and special event programs. Maintains a program specific database to evaluate and enhance existing programs, and to develop new programs. Performs the full range of supervisory personnel management responsibilities by selecting qualified candidates; training, assigning, monitoring, and advising managers/lifeguards of policies. procedures, and Air Force instructions. Appropriate staffing will involve short-, medium- and long-term decisions and actions, which require specific and technical skills in the area of personnel management. Ensures completion of necessary documents such as daily cash reports, deposits, purchase requests are submitted. Maintain accountability for appropriated and non-appropriated fund property assigned. Assist the Supervisory Recreation Specialist, with researching material to defend Aquatics facility. Performs regular inspections of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Lifeguard Instructor, and/or Water Safety Instructor experience at a Lead/Supervisory level. Must have supervisory experience at a program or activity level. Must be able to lift 40 pounds unassisted and participate in reoccurring physical fitness training. Must have experience and skill in the pool chemical testing process. CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Current Red Cross Lifeguard: First Aid, CPR and AED, Water Safety Instructor Course, identifying date completed and w/i 2yrs of completion date. Current Water Safely Instructor Trainer and Lifeguard Instructor Trainer certificates arc highly desirable. Other current certificates: Aquatics Facility Operator, Certified Pool Operator, Fundamentals of instructor Training certificate or equivalent, Water Fitness, CPR instructor certificates arc desirable. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
