TTU Post Doctoral Research Associate

Position Description:

Performs specialized Post Doctoral work in the planning, conducting and/or supervision of original research. Responsible for participating in a research project associated with PhD studies and the interpretation of the results of publication. Work is performed under supervision of graduate faculty members with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project. May supervise research and student assistants.

Major/Essential Functions:

Postdoctoral researcher in bioinformatics or experimental biology in exploring aging and environmental health through multi-omics approaches and systems biology.

Research Focus: Hypothesis-driven research by integrating experimental and omics-based approaches to elucidate the environmental influences on aging and age-related diseases.

Self-motivated, innovative thinker with a focused research interest in aging and the environment.

Writing and editing manuscripts, proposals, and research documentation/protocols.

Knowledge on functional genomics, methylome, transcriptome, and metabolome analyses

Mentoring graduate students on related projects

Preferred Qualifications:

Deep learning applications in aging and environmental health using multi-omics and systems approaches. Functional genomics, methylome, transcriptome, and metabolome analysis of complex aging-related pathophysiology and disease progression. Perform molecular biology techniques and/or programming languages (Python, R, Bash/shell), bioinformatics tools, statistics & machine learning.

Highly motivated, self-starting, with strong creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, molecular biology, environmental health, mathematics, physics, computer science, statistics, or related fields.

Proven track record with first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Ability to manage independent projects and mentor students. Focused on producing high quality publications and advancing your career. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Experience with molecular biology techniques adn rodent handling. Expertise in study design, data interpretation and bioinformatics tool development.

Required Qualifications:

PhD in area of project specialization. Knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof. Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions and other outcomes. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees and the public. Ability to plan and allocate the workload of employees, providing direct training and supervision as needed.
