Position Description:
Contributes to the University's and TTU K-12's mission through teaching and service. Provides instruction, appropriate assistance, information and tutoring. Performs instructional and educational work while serving as an online teacher. Provides feedback and grades for lessons, exams and final course grades. Organizes and develops course work, coordinates classes for students, observes and assesses the needs of the students. Maintains communication both formally and informally with students and other educators.

Major/Essential Functions:
At TTU K-12, all of our Teachers must be Texas Certified. This position requires a K - 5 Certification.
Communication and timely feedback: Respond to student messages daily; Facilitate positive interactions with students, parents, and staff; Assess lessons and course finals while providing appropriate feedback in a timely manner; Maintain virtual office hours.
Quality Instruction: Foster student success through the teaching of courses while utilizing interactive and intensive instructional methods; Recommend and provide remediation or re-teaching; Provide assistance, information, and/or tutoring as needed.
Effective and efficient assessment: Grade and provide appropriate feedback for all student submissions within two days. Grade CBEs, if applicable, within five days; Provide required documentation. During Texas Tech K-12 business hours from 8am -5pm.
Course Completion: Encourage students to complete their coursework; Manage and monitor student learning; Follow-up with student's who appear to be struggling and/or failing to make appropriate progress; Provide helpful feedback in a timely manner.
Policies and Procedures: 1) Teach students, including grading of CBEs if applicable; Maintain accurate grade sheets for reporting student progress; Work cooperatively with TTU K-12 staff.
2) Read and respond to communications from TTU K-12 in a timely manner; Return and pick up lessons/faculty grade sheets regularly; Attend all faculty meetings; Participate in required trainings.
3) Adhere to all TTU K-12 policies and procedures as noted in the TTU K-12 Faculty Handbook; Perform other duties as assigned by TTU K-12 superintendent and/or principals.
Serve as the primary instructor for online K-12 courses. This will include assessment of student learning, evaluating student homework assignments, providing regular feedback to students. Grade assignments within 2 days.
Communicate with students regularly including using online discussion boards, chat features, synchronous collaboration tools, email communications, and phone chat. Teachers will be required to respond to student questions/messages within 24 hours.
Full-time teachers will serve as a lead teacher for their assigned content area so the full-time teacher will be asked to support PT teachers, assist part-time teachers with grade turn around, curricular alignment, and responding to student questions as needed.
Knowledge of Texas curricular requirements for K-12 education.
