It is required that the candidate serve the mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ and demonstrate proficiency in the AdventHealth executive leadership competencies.

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for AdventHealth Avista located in Louisville, CO.

GENERAL SUMMARY :

Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the VP Nursing/CNO provides leadership in the daily operations of the hospital. Responsible and accountable for leading hospital clinical operations by working through directors and other health care team members in providing patient care 24 hours/day and 7 days/week. Exercises accountability for nursing care wherever it is provided in the hospital. Assumes active leadership role with Community Board, Senior Leadership, Medical Staff and with hospital leaders in hospital and AdventHealth.

Important to this role is understanding the leadership expectations of this position and the entire leadership team throughout AdventHealth. Each leader must have a personal and professional connection to the mission of the organization. This position must be a team player themselves and contribute toward a team centered approach that lends itself to ensuring “team before self” to lead this complex, highly matrixed organization into the differentiated leading role as the system of choice.

This position will invite others into their work to be fully transparent with the activities of this position, allowing for celebration of success and learnings through opportunities for change. This position will be a change agent for the health system by being bold in our thoughts and actions that generate the need for urgency as AdventHealth forges ahead as the thought leader in the industry. Finally, the individual must demonstrate personal and professional accountability to the community, associates, physicians, and sponsors for performance that this position and its team complete.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

· Effective communication and relationship management.

· Influencing behaviors by establishing an environment that values diversity, medical staff and academic relationships, and community involvement.

· Develops clear strategic plans supporting a high level of engagement with associates, medical staff, and patients.

· Demonstrates knowledge of current nursing practice and care delivery models and supports evidence-based practice and research.

· Supports patient safety, performance improvement and possesses robust understanding of healthcare economics and policy

· Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations that affect the provision of patient care; assures compliance with said laws and regulations.

· Promotes system thinking as an expectation of leaders and associates while utilizing change management theory.

· Develops a leadership succession plan while providing mentorship current and future leaders

· Demonstrates executive presence through role modeling and coaching to the AdventHealth Leadership Expectations

· Advocate for an environment of shared decision to influence clinical practice and the work environment

· Strong proven business acumen encompassing finance, human resources, and strategy

· Supports the use of technology and innovation to improve the work environment and clinical outcomes

· Facilitates shared decision making and interdisciplinary collaboration among caregivers. Ensures that nurses are actively involved in decisions that affect their practice.

· Advocates for the application or implementation of research and EBP.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :

· Demonstrates professional competency in communication and relationship building

· Demonstrates strong understanding and knowledge of the health care environment, including clinical practice and regulatory

o Strong knowledge of patient care delivery systems

· Demonstrates leadership competence and expertise

o Possesses foundational and critical thinking skills to address ideas, beliefs, or viewpoints of others.

o Recognizes one’s own methods of decision making and role of beliefs, values, and inferences.

o Uses reflective leadership and provides visionary thinking on issues that impact the healthcare organization.

o Values feedback and is a proponent of lifelong learning, able to learn from successes and failures, and seeks mentorship from respected colleagues.

· Demonstrates strong business skills

o Understands business models for healthcare organizations and fundamental concepts of economics

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE REQUIRED :

· Master’s degree in nursing required, other disciplines acceptable if they hold a BSN in nursing

· 5 years progressive clinical leadership nursing experience

· RN license to practice in Colorado

· Nurse Executive Certification required within one year of hire or transfer to role.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE REQUIRED :

· Doctorate degree

· CNO experience
