Brown Foodservice Warehouse Manager in Louisa, Kentucky

Job Description:  Warehouse Manager

Summary:

In the Warehouse Manager position, you will be responsible for managing and monitoring warehouse activities including, but not limited to, receiving, put-away consolidation, replenishment, picking, load checking, loading, and shipping while ensuring continuity, productivity, efficiency and superior service to customers, suppliers, and distributors. You will work closely with the Warehouse Supervisor and the Vice President of Operations and based out our Louisa, Kentucky location. You will be an essential part of our team that has been servicing customers and delivering fine foods since 1942.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct, coordinate, schedule, and monitor the daily activities and performance of warehouse workers to assure compliance of standard procedures, quality, and safety.

  • Assure quality performance through proper staffing, effective communication, and training.

  • Manage employee performance through motivation, delegation, development, mentoring and resolving conflict.

  • Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and following company policy.

  • Lead daily pre-shift meetings to foster employee engagement, communicate any changes to company policies and procedures, address employee concerns, foster idea-sharing and suggestions for improvement.

  • Participate in staff selection, performance evaluations, corrective action and terminations, as necessary.

  • Continuously review warehouse procedures and recommend and/or modify the operational structure to create a more efficient and productive operation.

  • Provide necessary resources to support daily activities, including backing-up employees as necessary.

  • Aid in completing warehouse’s daily inventory control activities.

  • Suggest and implement process improvements that will increase efficiency, productivity, safety, and quality while reducing costs (i.e. overtime hours, building and machine maintenance cost).

  • Enforce all policy and procedures, including safety and housekeeping, effectively and appropriately (i.e., pre-shift meetings, daily safety walkthrough, etc.).

  • Maintain supervisory reports and logs including pre-operations inspections and OSHA equipment logs.

  • Operate appropriate material handling equipment (i.e. forklifts, stock pickers, pallet jacks) and RF equipment safely in support of all job responsibilities.

  • Provide training to employees on safe operation of material handling equipment, safe warehouse practices, and other job-specific responsibilities.

  • Provide and maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary working environment.

  • Promote a safe working environment through continuous improvement of warehouse processes and regular safety training and inspections.

  • Coordinate efforts with warehouse management to aid in training, conducting associate observations, updating preferred work methods, conducting accident investigations to determine root causes and perform routine safety inspections.

  • Assure compliance of all company and local, state, and federal regulatory agencies’ (i.e., OSHA) policies and regulations.

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

    Education and Experience:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent (GED) (College Degree Preferred).

  • 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience with a distribution center.

  • Knowledge of powered industrial trucks (i.e.: forklifts, powered pallet jacks, etc.).

    Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Powered industrial truck certification is required upon completion of internal training and testing within the first 2 weeks of being hired.

  • Possess OSHA-compliant powered industrial truck trainer certification or obtain with first 3 months of being hired.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Possess familiarity with OSHA regulation.

  • Knowledge of warehouse procedures and practices; inventory control processes, procedures and practices; and inventoried product line specifications (dimensions, weight, etc.).

  • Advanced computer skills required; proficient with office applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to influence and seen as a team player.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Possess excellent personal organization skills.

  • Possess the ability to work productively, efficiently and with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure while maintain attention to detail and quality.

  • Experience with WMS and RF devices preferred but not required.

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, bend, squat, and stoop to accomplish the essential job functions.

  • Ability to perform repetitive lifting of up to 80 lbs.

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, other office and warehouse equipment and telephone to talk and hear.

  • During a regular workday, must be able to stand and walk 75% of the time.
