Description
An Ambulatory Surgery Center in Los Angeles is in the need of a Surgery Medical Coder in the Healthcare industry. The Surgery Medical Coder must have either a CPC or CCS Coding License. The right person for this role must have 2+ years of experience with Surgical ASC coding.
Responsibilities:
• Ensuring accurate and timely medical coding for surgical and ambulatory procedures.
• Managing collections, focusing specifically on denials due to coding issues.
• Thoroughly reviewing and resolving patient inquiries related to medical billing.
• Maintaining detailed and correct patient records, focusing on their surgical histories.
• Processing credit applications for patients with precision and speed.
• Routinely monitoring patient accounts and implementing necessary actions.
• Investigating and addressing issues at the root of system mapping.
• Adjusting rapidly to the dynamic nature of the department structure.
• Contributing to the overall organization by taking on additional collection responsibilities as needed.
Requirements • Proficiency in Ambulatory Surgery procedures and protocols
• Extensive knowledge and experience in Medical Coding, with a specific focus on surgical procedures
• Demonstrated expertise in Medical Collections, including negotiation and resolution of complex cases
• Experience in Medical Billing, with the ability to manage and reconcile accounts accurately
• Ability to handle Medical Denials effectively, with a strong understanding of appeal processes
• Familiarity with different types of Surgery, with the ability to code and bill them accurately
• Relevant certification or degree in medical coding, billing, or a related field
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with healthcare providers and patients
• High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage a large volume of data
• Knowledge of privacy laws and ethical guidelines related to patient information
• Proficiency in using medical software and computer systems
• Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to stay updated with the latest industry trends and regulations in medical coding and billing.
