USC’s Gould School of Law is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join its team. This position will conduct complex financial reporting and analysis for the Law School and advise on technical financial matters. The successful candidate will have a broad range of knowledge about financial services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Education: Master’s degree in a related field

  • Preferred Experience: 5 years

  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Directly related experience in a university environment with knowledge of university systems and procedures.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for preparing, monitoring, reconciling, and analyzing budgets and business transactions.

  • Perform financial reporting and evaluate and analyze data

  • Compile data and provide interpretation of strategic financial operations

  • Participate in annual budget forecasting and development including payroll and financial planning for faculty and staff

  • Create complex financial models for strategic planning and forecasting

  • Regularly evaluate existing data management systems and applications to ensure adequate performance

  • Identify problems or trends in financial operations and consult on possible solutions

  • Provide cost projections for the school throughout the fiscal year

  • Run various financial reports, including labor distributions, and analyze budget variances.

  • Serve as a resource for staff requesting information or assistance

  • Ensure compliance with federal requirements and university policies and procedures

  • Process payroll expense transfers (PAAs) for all groups (students, faculty, and staff)

  • Review grants and effort certifications with research administrators

  • Will assist with both final exam administration and proctoring at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters and commencement each year.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

  • Strong quantitative analysis skills

  • Advanced MS Excel skills

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Experience with USC systems, including Workday

  • Attention to detail and grammar inaccuracies

  • A high level of professionalism

  • Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information and situations

  • Knowledge of university business processes and policies

  • Sound judgment

The annual base salary range for this position is $93,843.03 - $105,000. Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree Minimum Experience: 3 years Minimum Field of Expertise: Business education or closely related field. Experience in financial analysis and reporting with knowledge of computer simulation and forecasting techniques.
