The Longo Lab at theUSC Leonard Davis School of Gerontologyis seeking a Specialized Research Lab Technician to join its team. This Specialized Research Lab Tech will focus on how health and longevity are regulated by nutrient-sensing pathways. Will be responsible for rodent (cancer, as well as lifespan studies in mice) and tissue culture work (human and rodent cell lines).Performs moderate to complex specific laboratory procedures, testing, etc, utilizing techniques and technology related to the specialized scientific field (e.g. May prepare regular and special media formulations; produce grow or culture microbiological materials; performs Elisa plate testing with consistent and high quality test results, etc.)
Job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
In vivo murine experiments: daily inspection of all animals including breeding, feeding, and weighing. Additionally: cognitive and behavioral examination, analytical and diagnostic tests, tissue collections, tumor measurements.
In vitro experiments: Cell cultures and associated assays, molecular and biochemical profiles (genomics, proteomics and transcriptomics), and samples analysis (blood, tissues, etc) from animal studies.
Will maintain detailed records of experiments and their results and prepare the information resulting from these experiments for presentations at laboratory meetings and publications.
Maintaining of the lab
May supervise/manager other staff and/or research students
The ideal candidates will have a Masters's degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology with previous experience working in a lab and performing complex research experiments. We also seek a nutrition background and/or degree.
Idea skills and experience include:
Monitoring and handling of rodent colonies (breeding, feeding, and weighing)
Cognitive behavior examination
Body composition detection
DNS extraction and quantification
Cell culture maintenance
This position is funded by a researchcontract/grantand may be funded by a subsequentcontract/grant. Accordingly, your position is contingent upon receipt of the necessary funding from this or any subsequentcontract/grantto continue employment.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree Minimum Experience: 4 years Minimum Field of Expertise: Degree in directly related specialized scientific field.
