Amazon Fresh Stores (AFS) is seeking experienced leaders to join our Process Engineering (PE) Central team as an Operations Manager. This critical leadership position serves as a cornerstone in our mission to drive process stabilization, standardization, and continuous improvement across the AFS network. As we continue to rapidly expand our store footprint and welcome new talent into our organization, the PE Operations Manager plays a vital role in implementing strategic change management initiatives aligned with our Worldwide Grocery Change Management Office (CMO). The PE Central Operations Manager will be part of a globally diverse team of operational leaders responsible for establishing and executing benchmark operating standards, accelerating the implementation of technology advancements, and strengthening process knowledge for operational leaders across the store network. This role is essential in ensuring our operations teams are equipped with the necessary process knowledge, established standards, and benchmark practices required for exceptional process control.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to lead a diverse team of professionals focused on pursuing variation reduction, optimizing standard work to reduce costs, and building mechanisms to drive compliance toward established standards. Your scope of responsibility will include prioritizing efforts within buildings, regions, and super regions to reduce variation from standards and ultimately improve process control and performance. This role demands commitment to the highest standards of process execution, coupled with the ability to interpret data and lead through influence to deliver meaningful results that translate to tangible productivity and efficiency gains across the super region.
Key job responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Change Management: As an Operations Manager, you will lead end-to-end site engagements across the region, encompassing cost opportunity analysis, performance evaluation, and action plan execution. You will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive change management strategies aligned with CMO objectives while partnering with regional leadership to prioritize and execute improvement initiatives. Your role includes driving standardization while maintaining flexibility for local market needs, and managing relationships with regional and central team leaders to ensure clear expectations and aligned outcomes.
Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement: You will evaluate performance metrics across the super region to identify process improvement opportunities and develop and own PE playbooks within designated subject matter expertise areas. Leading cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma methodologies is a core responsibility, as is driving benchmark standard implementation and execution across multiple sites. You will partner with Store Managers to establish proper cadences, mechanisms, and accountability methods within their operations.
Performance Management & Development: Your role includes coaching and developing site leadership teams on process excellence and change management, leading the implementation of standard operating procedures and best practices. You will monitor and analyze key performance indicators to drive continuous improvement and conduct regular audits and assessments of process compliance and effectiveness. This includes developing performance improvement strategies and ensuring their successful implementation across the network.
Basic Qualifications
Basic qualifications
3+ years of employee and performance management experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience
Experience in implementing large-scale change management initiatives
Proven track record of driving operational excellence and process improvement
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field
Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher)
Experience with retail operations or grocery industry
Project management certification or equivalent experience
Experience with data analysis and visualization tools

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $80,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $164,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
