UCLA Health Payroll Manager - Medical Group in Los Angeles, California


As the Payroll Manager for our Medical Group, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the successful administration of the payroll functions relating to each of the entities

  • Maintaining and improving communications

  • Ensuring accuracy and completeness of transactions received, processed, paid and recorded in the general ledger

  • Establishing and maintaining internal controls over payroll functions

  • Developing training processes for new employees as well as updating current processes for changes in systems/procedures

  • Act as a liaison between Faculty Practice Group (FPG) Payroll, Accounting, FPG Departments, UCLA Payroll (i.e., UC Path), Human Resources and any others who are impacted by payroll processing


We are seeking an exceptional, self-directed individual with:

  • 5 to 7 years of payroll experience with management and/or supervisory experience

  • Skill in managing the maintenance of payroll systems and in producing reports for reconciliation and analysis

  • Ability to analyze payroll processes and practices and recommend necessary changes to improve accuracy, compliance, and efficiency

  • Ability to utilize and program complex queries

  • Demonstrated competence in payroll and business practices to advise department personnel regarding pertinent issues

  • Skill in utilizing computer spreadsheet and word processing applications to prepare reports and presentations, to analyze payroll data and prepare communication to various University personnel

  • Skill in analyzing information, practices or systems to identify problems, patterns, trends and relationships, formulate logical and objective conclusions, recognize alternatives and their implications, and prepare reports

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
