Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assess, diagnose, and manage cardiovascular issues including but not limited to acute coronary syndrome, chest pain, heart failure, arrhythmias, valvular disease, peripheral artery disease, aortic aneurysm, and venous thromboembolism/pulmonary embolism in both outpatient and inpatient settings (floor, ER, and ICU) with collaborating physician.
Medication adjustments dependent on patient's clinical status.
Preoperative cardiac evaluation.
Order diagnostic studies, tests, labs and review pertinent labs/studies (EKG, remote telemonitoring, echocardiograms, stress tests, vascular studies).
Review telemetry.
Educate patient on diagnosis, medications, dietary restrictions related to cardiovascular disease.
Communicate with other specialties regarding patient care.
This is a 5/8's role and will comprise of both in-patient and out-patient care.
The general working hours for this position will be: 8am to 5pm.
There is no Operating Room duty with this role.
There is also no calls or weekends.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
Graduation from a Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the Board of Registered Nursing.
MSN Degree Required
License/Certification Requirements:
Current unrestricted Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license issued by the State of California.
Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Certificate or eligible to obtain.
Furnishing number issued by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).
National Board Certification for Nurse Practitioner
BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Experience:
Minimum one year Nurse Practitioner experience is preferred
For Oncology Practices, two (2) years of Nursing experience required, preferred in Oncology setting
Three (3) years experience as an Advance Practice Nurse preferred
