CompuCom Network Engineer in Los Angeles, California

Our client has a brand new opportunity for a Network Engineer that will join their team onsite in Los Angeles, CA . This resource will be part of the team responsible for the maintenance and development of the client Global Technology's network infrastructure, including wireless and telephony. This will be a 6 month term.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Respond to and resolve out-of-hours network issues

  • Ensure that client existing network infrastructure is well managed, supported and secure at all times including responding to possible threats and vulnerabilities

  • Support the venue technology teams with the provision of temporary network and telephony equipment for events at client's venues

  • Maintain current knowledge of new network infrastructure hardware and software solutions and recommend upgrades where appropriate to maintain efficient operation

  • Implement and document new network systems and upgrades to existing systems

  • Resolve issues caused by third party suppliers, particularly suppliers of telecommunications service

  • Resolve calls relating to network systems which have been escalated from the Service Desk

  • Understand the long-term business objectives and suggest technical strategies to meet those objectives, introducing innovation to business processes through technology

  • Provide and promote the highest level of customer service and continuously seek ways to improve personal, team and business performance

  • Undertake any other relevant duties or reasonable request as requested by any member of the senior management team

Skills and Qualifications:

  • BA / BS Degree In Information Technology or a related field

  • Minimum 4 to 6+ years of experience working in a similar role previously, including configuring and managing large scale, multi-site and multi-tenant networks including integrating with third parties

  • Have the ability to form good, effective working relationships with all levels of staff

  • Have the ability to quickly understand new situations and new technologies

  • Have significant experience of configuring and managing Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, wireless LAN controllers and Meraki wireless access points, switches and security gateways

  • Have experience of configuring and managing Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama

  • Have experience in network security including layer 2 security and layer 7 deep packet inspection technologies

  • Have experience of working in environments such as test, pre-production, and production

  • Be highly skilled and experienced in network technologies including the following:

  • the OSI model

  • transmission layer services including fibre technologies and CWDM / DWDM

  • Ethernet technologies and layer 2 switching including VLAN configuration and management, STP, MTU and layer 2 security

  • TCP / IP (both IPv4 and IPv6)

  • virtual routing and forwarding (VRF)

  • generic routing encapsulation (GRE)

  • IP routing (including HSRP, VRRP, OSPF, EIGRP and BGP)

  • IPSEC including route based VPNs

  • Multicast

  • QoS

  • MPLS (including EoMPLS)

  • network security and 802.1x

  • DNS and DHCP

  • RADIUS

  • Be experienced and able to troubleshoot complex network, voice and internet connectivity issues including packet capture and analysis

  • Be able to provide root cause analysis of major incidents and document to the Global Technology team and key stakeholders

  • Have a record of producing accurate detailed reports, of paying attention to detail and of working to agreed standards

  • Have high documentation standards, including configuration documentation for supported systems, standard operational procedures and request for change and service incident documentation

  • Be aware of industry best practices, designing and implementing systems and infrastructure in a secure and pragmatic way

  • Be able to use initiative, work with minimum supervision, organize your time effectively, and deliver to agreed timescales

  • Have a positive "can do” attitude

  • Be a team player who enjoys working in a high achieving environment

  • Have a commitment to delivering the best

  • Certification for core technologies is highly preferred

$57.22 - $63.02 per hour
