    Position description

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UCLA seeks applications for a physical chemistry lecturer position (50% appointment) to teach chemical thermodynamics to our upper-division undergraduate students, during the Fall 2024 academic quarter.

Responsibilities will include lecturing, conducting regularly scheduled office hours, writing and grading exams and problem sets, and supervising teaching assistants for the courses. Lecturer appointments are established quarter by quarter according to the instructional needs of the department. Applications will be kept on file for consideration for any openings that may occur throughout the year.

Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or equivalent discipline and have significant experience and a strong record in teaching upper-division physical chemistry courses at the college level.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates should provide a curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy (max 1 page), and should arrange for 3 letters of reference to be uploaded to UCLA Academic Recruit.
