UCLA Health Laboratory Assistant II - Head & Neck in Los Angeles, California
Description
The Department of Surgery Head and Neck is seeking to hire a limited part time Laboratory Assistant II to assist in the Translational Otolaryngology Neuroscience Laboratory investigating topical methods of protecting the inner ear from injury from ototoxic agents.
Specific tasks include:
Various laboratory procedures in cell biology including cell culture, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, microparticle fabrication, and hydrogel creation and assessment. Experience with cell culture is required.
Assisting the PIs in electrophysiologic recording and data analyses and surgical procedures.
Limited; may convert to career
Pay range: $21.38 - $25.15 hourly.Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Biology, Neuroscience, Physiological Sciences, or similar All Strongly Preferred
Ability to maintain a laboratory notebook with documentation of experiments and results
Ability to rigorously follow laboratory protocols
Knowledge of regulations for proper animal care and euthanasia strongly preferred
Knowledge of safety measures in handling and disposal of laboratory waste
Skill in organization and ability to work independently
Ability to communicate and maintain notes in English
Ability to modify and learn new techniques as required.
Ability to work with Macintosh and PC operating systems All Required
Working knowledge of major software applications including Microsoft Office (MS
Word, Excel, PowerPoint), graphics programs (Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator),
web search engines (e.g. PubMed), reference managers (Endnote) and e-mail
Ability to Perform Cell Culture including MTT assays
