UCLA Health Financial Services Analyst Liaison in Los Angeles, California

Description

Join UCLA Health as a Financial Services Analyst Liaison in the Physicians' Billing Office (PBO), where you'll play a central role in resolving complex patient billing issues. Reporting to the Patient Billing and Collections Supervisor, you will manage high-level patient escalations, act as a liaison between departments, and support service recovery efforts that directly improve the patient financial experience.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage escalated guarantor accounts and act as a patient advocate, using discretion to resolve complex billing disputes.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including the Patient Experience Office and leadership, to drive resolution of high-visibility cases.

  • Identify and analyze dissatisfaction trends; contribute to workflow enhancements and service recovery initiatives.

  • Support key projects and system improvements to increase billing accuracy and workflow efficiency.

  • Maintain professionalism in all interactions and communicate outcomes clearly to patients and senior leadership.

Salary Range: $28.30 - $54.74/hour

Qualifications

We're seeking a detail-oriented billing professional with:

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience, required

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant healthcare billing, collections, or customer service experience, required

  • Working knowledge of guarantor self-pay accounts, CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding, billing, and collections, required

  • Knowledge of government and private insurance billing rules and self-pay collection regulations, required

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and billing software systems, required

  • Experience in analyzing complex accounts and payer regulations, required

  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete assignments independently in a deadline-driven environment, required

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact with leadership and diverse patient populations, required

  • Ability to resolve conflict professionally and maintain confidentiality in sensitive matters, required

  • Typing and 10-key proficiency; ability to prepare correspondence, maintain records, and organize data, required

  • Knowledge of Federal and State billing regulations within a university or healthcare setting, required

  • Experience managing executive-level patient billing complaints
